What I believe 8pack means by that is, for the most part, benching your own bodyweight is a good first goal to set for yourself- If you haven't really worked out that long, you might not be able to lift that much at first. Keep in mind, everyone is different- So you may have to start at a lower weight. In fact, it's always a good idea to start off light just to get used to the proper form- Then increase the weight each week until you get a good idea of what amount of weight will challenge you in your chosen rep range- For example, if you're planning to do eight to ten reps, find the weight over the next few weeks that you can do more than eight reps with, but not more than ten with good form- That is, if you think you can do eleven reps but your arms will shake or your back will shift out of position during that last rep, stop at ten. You've found the right weight.

Bench at least your bodyweight. Squat at least 1 1/2 times your bodyweight. Deadlift at least twice your bodyweight (if your grip and back is strong enough).

thanks for the replies, guys. i was about to ask this same question, but saw this thread, and just looked at the answers to it. well, i can't squat my own body weights because i have to hack squat, and my grip isn't strong enough on deadlift. oh, well... i'll get better...
