Back up.  Picking up a jump rope burns body fat.  "What is the ideal time to spend doing jump rope so as to burn fat ?" or "How much Bike Riding would be good to lose bodyfat?" are as menigless as "How long Do I cook this turkey for?".  It depends on the size of the turkey.  How much fat are you trying to lose? A pound, 2 pounds, 20 pounds?

Personally I ride my bike 8 miles in a day. (4 miles to the Sports Authority to get weights (which is next to a Vitamin Shop for when I start using supplements) and 4 miles back)  Of course, I live in New Jersey...in the region called the "Ridge and Valley" region, so it is alot of up steep hills and down steep hills.  When I visited my Aunt in Florida, (who is an ex-professional bodybuilder), I rode with her on a bike ride 26 miles on the flat Florida terrain without too much exertion.

So first decide how much you want to lose.
