You won't find it, because nobody really knows.  It is kind of like the raw eggs crap-shoot, you may get toxic ingredients, and you may not.

I wouldn't worry about it.  I used to eat a can or two a day for a good while and I'm still living.

The cheap chunk "light" tuna is actually the safest to eat. The particular type of Tuna used for that is the least likely to contain Mercury.

I've heard, whether the source was legit or not I'm unaware of, but I heard that all that mercury can make you go retarded and ****. I'd rather eat chicken... than... go retarded and ****, could be just me.

I don't let it effect me though, surely I wouldn't instantly turn retarded from eating tuna, if I saw signs of memory loss or a decrease in focus, etc.  I would lay off the tuna, but if I saw no signs of anything severe then I would just continue to eat tuna as I please.

I've asked two biochem professors at my school and they laughed and said not to worry about it.  One thing is sure, if anything were to happen, it's not going to be a sudden thing.

One thing though, anyone arguing that they've eaten 4 cans a day for one or two years and concluding that it's safe is the same as someone smoking for 2 years and concluding that it doesn't cause cancer...

Google the Global Mercury Project... there are links to mercury levels in fish. Apparently canned light tuna has less than albacore tuna... however both are listed as fish that have low levels of mercury. Furthermore, women planning to get pregnant should maybe keep a closer eye on their tuna consumption; dudes probably don't need to worry too much.

Here's some links:

Judging by your post it seems you're already experiencing the effects of mercury poisoning.

Its not just Tuna that contains Mercury, it can be found in other fish from certain waters as well. Lake Michigan Salmon and Trout for example also contain some levels of mercury, though it has been decreasing, and there are warning on eating excessive amounts.

I'll try and find the source I read this from (it was a few years ago) but I think what i read said that the recommended safe intake was 2 cans per week.  However, there was an * that stated that it wouldnt be an issue for young, healthy men.

I heard about a girl getting mercury poisoning in college (too much fish, not just tuna).  Some people are just unlucky I guess.

2 cans of tuna seems ok. more seems excessive no?  if not for your health's sake, for the sake of variety.

I seem to recall that mercury is a cumulative poison. That the body does not expel or rid itself of the substances and throughout life, the level will continue to build. So, yes for a young person it might not be a problem but what about a few years down the road. It might be a bit difficult to believe right now but you will get older and little stuff like this can come back to haunt you in spades.
