highschool football? need advise - Sunday, August 12, 2007 4:59 PM ( #1 )
hey, im new here, and ive already learned a ****load of stuff,
anyway my school has had us lifting since lax ended in the spring, they had us lifting mon, wed, fri on an A,B scedual.    A was bench, squat, lats, push press,     B was powercleans, military press, incline bench and bent over rows. tricepts and bicepts and agility is to be done every time.

i felt i wasnt gaining enough, so i started lifting pretty heavy at home, at the gym we were doing 4 sets of 6 reps at a high weight for everything, and i started doing low weight multiple seta nd reps at home on top of the gym

my questions-
is working out completely every other day too much?
for football- highweight low reps/set? low weight high set/reps? or a mixture?
also-anyways i can improve the team program for myself?

anyone have a decent training program that includes conditioning, - so i can make inprovements and guage my own
connelly

welcome to db!

im not sure about what your football team is doing splitting up exercises that work the same muscle on different days [ex:flat bench and incline]also they were working you a lil much it is better than nothing though.to answer your questions:
is working out completely every other day too much?
if you mean your whole body yes let every body part rest around 5-7 days if you mean work out different boddy parts every other day yes i would do around 5 times a week.
for football- highweight low reps/set? low weight high set/reps? or a mixture?
i would say 3-5 sets of each exercise and around 5 reps to build muscle mass. dont do more than 12-15 sets per muscle.
also-anyways i can improve the team program for myself? i dont get what you are saying.

hope i helped.

i feel that doing high reps, low weight for football is the right thing. But, i dont think that u should be doing a crap load less. Like if u could bench 300 u should do like 225 for 5-6 sets of 12-15.

i also believe this because football is a game of strength and conditioning. So itll help
