IDK did you loose some muscle? if so it could be that the muscle was slowing you down alot and only making your punch a little harder, like some footaball players have an "optimal" weight, Jamal Lewis dosent lift during the season. . . "I get too big" (I wish I had that problem) but the one season he tried to play heaver  (more Muscle) he tore his ACL, and that was the end of his season so it could be that if you were a lot slower before and a bit more powerful then you weren't at your optimal muscle level. . . maybe this is it but like I said I really dont know. Just a theory I haveSmile

yeah to a certin degree I dont know if you follow the NFL but there was a running back named Muarrice Clarrett, he was a great back the one year he played in college, got into some trouble and sat out a year to enter the NFL draft. He had trained hard and gotten huge, he weighed like 240, in college he played at like 220 with a little chubb, but he was fast. He got to the Draft Combine and ran like a 4.8 in the 40 yard dash. (good running backs run between 4.2-4.5) He was rock solid and lean, but sloooooow. He didn't get drafted untill the fourth round and was then later cut and will never play in the NFL. so the extra weight didn't help him even though it was muscle. But yes boxers never have huge arms because it slows them down, they have major abs, killer chest, decent shoulders, and sometimes traps, but they never want to bulk their arms because they will become slower. look at tysons early fights compared to him getting knocked out.

not a huge difference but he is a lot bigger later in his carrer.

sounds like you gave up some strength for speed. work on following through with your punches, dont just do alot of fast jabs. also are you wrapping ur hands and wearing gloves? if ur not and its ur 1st time hitting a heavy bag it could be hurting your wrist.

its not that he gave up strength for speed, it is actually that when you are muscular you tend to loose some of it when doing something like boxing because it is more of an endurance sport, and most boxers if you noticed will fight at their natural weight for the exact reason that chris had pointed out, being too bulky will slow you down and make it harder to function when doing a sport where you need to be fast, and precise. which is why they have weight classes, a skinny fast guy can beat the hell out of a huge, strong guy. thats why when training for boxing, go with more of endurance type training. strength training doesnt hurt, just dont stick with just strength, you need the endurance.

by the way, just to let you know, i got that advise from my boss who was a golden gloves boxer. what he did was ran almost everyday, anywhere from 5 to 10 miles a day, and trained heavy on the speed bag, punching and dodging bag. and when it came to weights he did endurance lifting and strength training like twice a week. i tried this type of workout and it works great. except i still cant run even up to 5 miles. still working on that part.

Boxers other than heavy weights( everything is developed on them because there already so muscular all they have to do is cook eggs and they gain muscle) are developed mostly in the arms and shoulders. If you look at there chests they are flat and it makes sense, because there chest is used in the punch like 10%. most of the action of the punch comes from the anterior deltoid and tricept. If your puches come from the chest your diong them wrong.
I did heavy mass building training for my arms and it never slowed my punching down a bit. actualy It got faster and more explosive. I did the same training for my legs and my roundhouse got powerful as hell.

Mike tyson started to get knocked out because he got older, slower and his reactions started to dull but he still had power.

to a certain point muscle will act as friction to your speed and will slow you down but im obviously not there yet. and neither are you guys. unless your like arnold swarzanigger.

and I think tyson is just a big as he was in his prime. its just the distance and the pose hes in that makes him look biger.
