First, stop working everything out every other day. You're not giving your body enough time to fully recover from the last workout, whether you feel like it or not. Even though you might not be sore, your body's not done rebuilding. Give it time to rest. Second, stop working everything out in the same workout- Instead of trying to hit all those muscles, split them up- Work out your chest one day, your shoulders another day, biceps and triceps another day, etc- this way, every muscle will get plenty of time to rest in between workouts, and you're targeting each of them more effectively by giving them more individual attention. Third, if you're going to work out, work out everything. I see all upper body stuff here- If you want a nice physique, like the guy on the bowflex commercial, you're going to have to work your lower body too. No, not just so your legs can match his, but because if you want real upper body results, working the lower body is essential. A stronger set of legs and lower back translates into a stronger upper body. Lastly, all of this means nothing without the proper diet. you can work out all you want with the perfect workout plan and get nowhere if your diet's not up to snuff- Why not post something about how your friend eats, and we can help out more from there?

I thought I read somewhere that it was good to build more than one muscle at a time....?
Someone always has to write on the walls "Mike was here". But then someone else puts an arrow and it says "Mike is a ****got". So Mike comes back to check it out, "What the hell?! I was here but not as a ****got!" -Dane Cook

Not sure what you're saying there, super- You should be working out every muscle group regularly, but not every day, or even every other day. Work chest once or twice a week, for example, as well as every other muscle group- but don't work chest every day. You'll never get anywhere.

if you're looking for strength, i'd drop the flies and hit the bench hard and heavy. less reps. i did the 5x5 for a month and my bench went from 285 to 300.

you need to rotate reps, sets, and max %, by weeks. one week do 10 by 4 with 60 %, then 6 by 3 with 80% the next week and so on. thats how i got from 285 to 325 in almost 2 months.
Max: Bench - 325ilbs Squat - 460ilbs Incline - 290ilbs Power Clean - 230ilbs Deadlift - 500 ilbs

i'd sugest to work upperbody one day and lower the next instead of one particular area.
Max: Bench - 325ilbs Squat - 460ilbs Incline - 290ilbs Power Clean - 230ilbs Deadlift - 500 ilbs
