help the aged!!! - Monday, May 05, 2008 12:45 PM
I have been weight training for 20 odd years and managed to keep a fine body but as I am now 55 I have noticed a few small changes that I would like to nip in the bud.
Before I start Italianangel I would just like to say that I am not fearful of aging but only that I am grateful to and for my body and how well it serves me and when I can help it I do my best.
My regular gym has closed for refurb so I have free weighted at home and this may explain the changes as maybe I have not trained as hard but...
Although my abs are tight I have noticed the skin rippling slightly.
Would losing a few pounds improve this or make it worse?
Develping a pocket of fat between buttock and hamstring and adductors softening.
Why does Nature store fat above the knees? Is it having a laugh! Help for that.
Biceps good. Triceps good. But what is that bit from underarm to inner elbow in between? Seems to be softening.
And finally when arm resting against side where delt joins pec suddenly softening (lateral raises help?
Should I train harder to compensate now I am getting older?
I take anti oxidants, Udo oil, vitamins but no aminos. Would they help or can you suggest other supplementation?
I am 5' 4 and 56kg ( 124 lb).
Thank you so much.

lets look at your essential fatty acids, omega oil intake???
Now yes if you add weight it can do that at this point and can still smooth out with fat loss......but up and down too much and the skin may at some point not come back, but this is where the efas come in......you need those to help.
now I thought I had replied to this but seems I have not so I appoligize for ignoring you for the month, it was so non intentional!!

Thanks! I took my half hearted lazy butt back to the gym and after 2 workouts I have noticed an improvement.
I was obviously not working out hard enough at home.
Set of dumbells, dining room chair and a thighmaster wont cut it!!!
Lesson learned. Your gym closes for refurbishment? Find another one Quick!!!
I was taking 2000mg of Udo per day. I prefer salmon oil to be truthful. You do notice an improvement in skin tone.
And I will be checking out websites. Your pics are inspirational.

I found sking texture, non leathery is more of the result from the efa........I am on cla now and had tried mct and hemp.......personally my body likes them all....the cla is really helping with my leaning right now.
as for home workouts, I did it for 2 yrs but I did push myself and all I had were db and a bench but I was challenged by these, once I was not, I went out and picked up 30lb dbs and 45s.
I have a bar with weights too but its t york although enough to do lots at home too and keep challenged.
I am lucky to have a gym 2 blks away owned by a couple guys who I think will be there for quite awhile and they sponsor me my memberships, so I dn'ot pay besides I bring in new clientelle all the time since this gym is my 'home office' so to speak.
Keep me posted!
