dumbell raises, to the front, side, and bent over. military presses are good also.

i generally start with military presses, doing 8, 8, 6, then switch to bent over lateral raises, 3x8 to lateral raises 3x8 to front raises 3x8, and if i'm in a really good mood, i move and do those three raises again using cables, usually 3x10-12. it works for me.

I would avoid any overhead pressing all together. You are asking for injury. Use this routine and I guarantee you that you will see results. I don't know how strong you are but mimic this routine with whatever weights you can handle. Lateral raises 20 lbs x 18 25 lbs x 15 30 lbs x 12 35 lbs x 10 40 lbs x 8 45 lbs x 6 Rear delts same forumla but a little less weight for me. Front delts same formula but only 3-4 sets max because doing ches exercises works your front delts big time

its behind the head military presses you should avoid, you're fine with plain old military presses. it's a great functional strength exercise.

I agree, i find military presses to be one of the most affective exercises among my arsenal.
