half squats put more strain on you knee than full range of motion squats.  Squats should not affect your knees harldy at all if you have correct form.  I squat just fine and have a torn ACL in my left knee.
No the leg press is not the same as doing squats.

All teasing aside this is one of those things where seeing a doctor or at least having a trainer check it out could help you a lot more than we can over the internet. Your knee problem could be as simple as bad form or it could be a sign of an underlying problem. Either way, we can't give you a good answer so you should have it checked out.

Yes.

But.... make sure you find a doctor who is sympathetic to lifters. Sports medicine can be a good one to look for. A lot of doctors are against heavy lifting and will never be able to wrap their mind around someone who is for it.

Usually when I get to the top of my deadlift I'll do a reverse-grip curl.

OK by doctor I pretty much meant a physical therapist. MDs don't really study or remember a lot of kinesiology. Usually when I tell someone on here to see a doctor I mean a PT unless they're talking about internal problems.

Yes, half squats are very bad for your knees.
