hey dudes... i've been hearing alot lately on growth hormone or hgh. is it worth supplementing with this stuff. i'm 37, with a few extra pounds (stubborn pounds at that), and everything i've been reading about the effects of hormone loss seem to be occuring to me. i have not really seen alot of discussion of this topic on the board. i already know that training will increase hormone levels, but will it bring them up to the highest levels they can be (ie like in the days of teens and twenties). would i want my hormone levels to be that high again...i'm leaning towards yes. any input would be helpful.

Unless you have a hormone deficiency, which can only be shown through a blood test, DO NOT mess around with human growth hormone on your own. It is powerful stuff and has negative side effects. The negatives outweigh the positives. It can cause insulin resistance (diabetes), edema, carpal tunnel syndrome, and several other negative sides. It is not the fountain of youth it's cracked up to be. I'm on it for a true deficiency, on a physiologic dose. It's gotten me only to a "normal" level. Any larger a dose and I'd have problems. Just do a Google search for human growth hormone and read up. Anything you do with it should be under a reputable MD's supervision.

Growth hormone definitely works, but is expensive and illegal if not perscriobed by a doctor. Of course, you can still get it, but getting quality stuff is another thing. They have it in a pill (natural form) as well, but it's been known to not be as strong! Read up on it is my advice.

Growth hormone is a peptide (protein) hormone like insulin (in fact, they are just an amino acid or two different from each other) and must be injected. If ingested, it will be digested just like a piece of steak or an egg. I'm off the gh replacement, since my IGF-1 was too high. Now it's right in the middle of the range, with no gh replacement. One less injection!
