got tested monday

Since I don't do any sports and love to lift I decided to join the powerlifting team at our school. After a month of training with the coach he tested us for our maxes and this i what I got... Bench:280 (touch and go, no pause) Squat:215x4 DL:275 I'm 160lbs and and 5'10". the reason my bench is hgiher than anything is I just started working my legs last summer. I still have chicken legs but my strength has definately improved. The first meet is in feb I think. I want to be able to do 300 on all lifts by then...so wish me luck lol. any tips for squating would be nice, lol. I have good form but my gains on squat are SSSSLLLLOOWWWW, lol.

take a week break.. or switch your squats. (widers stance, wider grip, over/under hand grips.. etc)

ORIGINAL: rusmuscle take a week break.. or switch your squats. (widers stance, wider grip, over/under hand grips.. etc)
my stance is already pretty wide. for the grip thing ru talkng about DL or SQ? squats I put my grip a little farther out than my shoulders and on DL I use the over/under grip.

wow ur school has a powerlifting team? anyway try doing other things than traditional squat ( hack squat, leg press, etc.). and like rusmuscle said a week off could do u some good

yea. the athletic coach usually takes the football team to a powerflifting meet on the off season and this year he decided let anyone go to the meet and he's treeting it as if it is a team now. it's pretty cool, the only thing I don't like is he had us doing all 3 lifts in one day, three days a week. but now we've started "phase 2" so we are only going to be doing everything twice a week. I already took a week off a couple weeks ago cause I pulled a muscle in my chest so I just decided to take it off from lifting all together.

Powerlifting team thats awesome. Nice maxes keep getting your legs up. I've got max week for football this week too im pretty excited im hoping for: max bench-180 max squat-250 max incline bench-150 max hang clean-not sure maybe around 120 oh yeah by the way i play running back 5'6 133
