Dude you are asking too much. Choose between loosing weigth and then gain lean muscle or get big and then cutting and thigthening. For cutting you need a low carb, fat a calorie diet and for get big you need to eat like and animal but healthy food high in calories and carbs. get it? but you can if you want to loose weigth in fat with out sacrificing muscle.... just don use any hype fat burners of any kind.

You cannot build muscle while trying to lose fat. You can tone and shape your muscles and your muscles will assist in fat loss, but, in able to build muscle, you need to eat more calories than you burn. And you can't do that, when you're trying to lose fat.

Let's take care of the obvious first- http://www.discussbodybuilding.com/Stop_fking_around_and_lift_like_you_mean_it/m_127347/tm.htm Read that post. You need to work every muscle group if you're anywhere near being serious about your goals, trust me. Next- You need to look at your diet. 2000 calories a day isn't enough for someone who's 5'8", 195 pounds- That's me - So it's definitely not enough for someone your size, even if you're trying to lose fat. In order to perform all of it's functions properly, including burning fat, the body needs a certain amount of calories per day. Otherwise, it's just not going to burn fat as effectively as it could. Check out the top of the nutrition forum for the calorie calculators- Use the info in there to find out how many calories you really need to eat. Lastly- While it's generally not the best idea to try to lose fat and build muscle at the same time because of the two very different caloric needs between those two goals, someone in your postion might actually have more success than most, since you have quite a bit of weight to lose here. My advice? Find out how many calories you need, re-work your diet to get them all in, lift a little heavier than you're lifting right now- Say, within the eight to ten rep range instead of just plain old ten- And you should be seeing nice results within the next few months.

for starters, yes it is possible to lose fat and gain muscle, especially when you weigh 280+ I did it at 250 I'm assuming your BF% is/was high so burning those "stored calories" aka "fat" can be done a few ways. Yes you should go figure out how many cals you need a day after that you know how to eat. So if you have say 80lbs to lose and you lift and take in fewer calories than you need your body will burn fat if you work muscles in a way to gain size/strength while eating in a defict(sp) your muscles will burn the fat to grow. so at 250+ is it possible? not only is it possible its prety easy with diet and working out. I have done both, not to perfection but I'm figureing it out. I weighed 295 at the start of my senior year in HS now a year and a half later I weigh 225 and I'm on my way to lose more. So hang in there man, and at 280 if you lose more than 2 a week dont panic as long as your diet is in order, with that much extra its easy to lose with a healthy diet and activity.
