I'm 19 and have been lifting for almost 2 years now, so i'm starting to get past the beginner phase. however, I have a friend who is 16 and wants to get into lifting. his dad lifted for years and he has seen us doing it and wants to join in the fun. He needs to bulk. our routine would be 9-15 sets per muscle group mon abs and back tues shoulders wed biceps and triceps thurs off fri chest sat legs sun off his nutrition needs work and he says he wont give up mountain dew but hes willing to make a few changes. so better than nothing. if he sticks with it i know he will come around. typical newbie he wants supplements and since i was going to try xceed, i was thinking he could get some too. I told him he dosent need the supps yet and that nutrition is where its at for gains but he still wants them. Anyway I just want to see if everything here was good for a beginner.

Well it depends on the exercises, and level of development of the trainees. I would think maybe at the early stages, stick to heavy compound movements.... You are right about diet as well, it is very important!
