i agree with coldfire's response, but redjeeps response really puts that statement in it's own corner for now.
when doing a chest exercise, yes, the chest is being worked. My opinion is that different chest exercises work different areas somewhat MORE than others.
for instance, dips can be considered a chest exercise... but it really hits the majority of the lower pec area...(triceps are obviously doing alot of work here, but this is an example for chest)
where-as incline BB benchpress is also a chest exercise, and concentrates most of the work done to the upper pec area/deltoids. (yes, the triceps are obviously assisting in both motions)
while i'm not saying that the rest of the pectoralis isn't being utilized, you have to agree that the work distribution can be swayed in a certain direction depending on the chest exercise you pick
