eating then sleeping - Wednesday, April 01, 2009 9:56 AM ( #1 )
Just wondering if this is a good thing or a bad thing for me... I have fallen into a routine where when I get home from school or work for the day I will have a meal and fall asleep for 30mins to an hour. I also almost always eat a small helping of cottage cheese and some carrots before I go to bed. And as of lately with me training harder a protein shake also.s

i been told all the time by my folks and grandma/pa that sleeping immediately after a meal is not good and would make me accumulate fat in the belly region. also it is supposed to hinder the digestion process since the food would not be properly settled in the belly.

Yeah I've heard that also. I've also heard it is bad for your heart because when your sleeping you heart rate obviously slows down and when you eat it speeds up to metabolize the food and so when you sleeping your hate is fighting itself or something idk.

Eating before sleeping is fine.  But I would replace the carrots with a veggie that is less starchy.

eating fat and protein before you sleep is fine.  Carbs are probably fine before a nap too.  I wouldnt eat alot of carbs in the hours before you go to sleep for the night though...

I take a quick power nap half an hour after some of my meals too if i have the time. I Love it if i get to do that before my workout.

But i never go to bed immiedately after dinner.

yeah usually my naps are more immediate after eating, but as for as before going to bed for the night I would say I eat about 30 mins prior to falling asleep.

thanks for the input guys
