ok its like month 4 or 5 , im making some slow progress im guessing because of trial and error , and i know it takes time

i keep getting mixed messages ,  i know that diet is key and i am working on it for we can squash that and get right tot he point ,

ive found a routine i like , ive been doing it about a month , it consists of most of the same ex's ive been doing since i started

ok , i wanna gain about 30 pounds of muscle , i wanna be at 185-190 after cutting , right now im about 155-160 , not cut , but started out as about 135-140 and im 5'11

i naturally would sit at about 140 , i have gained the mass , some fat some muscle , ppl have noticed my gain in size , they say oh u look like uve been working out , i notice gains in my  bis and tris , but , shoulders are minimal ,  back almost nothing , ect ect ,  wearing a shirt people are like oh your chest looks bigger , but bare skin u can see that its not cut , and i want a big , cut chest , i know the foods i eat are hindering that but like i said im working on it , what i think it may be is the like sets and reps..

im told about 3 body types , and im like apparently the tallskinny one ,  at first for the first two months i was to lift so heavy that i only get between 3-6 reps , and to aim for around 4 , then like last month i was told to go around 8-10 reps ,  so thats what i do now and i do  between 3-4 sets , 3-4 ex;s per muscle....

but im not getting a cut chest which is what i really want , so is it my body type , should i be doing really low reps and set or stick with the 8-10-3 to 4 sets that im doing or what , im now 5'11 155-160 i want my cut chest , i want the big arms the big shoulders , so what should i do , i use the same exercises that  most do , BP , incline BP with DB , machine flies , cable cross overs...

im done ****ing around , im ready for serious work and serious results , info please.. thanks guys

If you started from scratch, than that`s a pretty good improvement. When you bulk, you will gain muscle and fat at the same time. I know, I know, i hate it too but that seems like the only way to build a body that I want. My goal is to be around 180 cut and right now I`m at 165 with a gain of 10lbs from the last 2 months of working out.
You have to really push yourself. I like working out listening to loud rock like Pantera or Linkin Park while wearing headphones and it really pushes me to extreme. Might wanna give that a try too. I believe there was also a test done about that and good results came out of it.

I like doing sets from 6-12 depending on what exercise.

rule of thumb 4-6 reps is for strength, 8-12 is for size and 12+ is for endurance, so if you are trying to gain size and mass stick to around the 8-12 rep range, but also take that with a grain of salt its a rule of thumb and may not be the best for you.
