Why not?

If your DR says you do general exercise, I don't see why not?

I wouldn't recommend heavy squats but I don't see why seated exercises and benching and such would be bad.  Nor do I see that you'd have to neglect legs.  You'd just have to improvise and be careful considering.

Bodybuilding can be as simple as getting fit, losing fat and looking great.  It's not all hardcore and big weights.

Check with a DR first, let them know what you plan to do, find a good personal trainer that understands the situation and take it from there.

I had a knee reconstruction 2 years ago - im having no problems with my knees yet so i dont see why it should be a problem providing that you do it right.

I have really bad back problems to the point where I can't walk on days.  I always enjoyed lifting so I got with a friend of mine and he helped me get back into the gym.  The main difference is I do not stand for any of my excersises.  I always have my back brace on and My partner helps get the weights in position for me.  The one thing I have noticed is I do not have as much pain in my back as I did before.  I am going to say that the only reason I went back to the gym was my friend(who is a physical therapist) told me I could and helped me get to the point I could.
Talk to your doctor and find out his views.
