dips and pushups

I had some pain in my right shoulder every time I'd do dips or pushups this past month, but everybody just told me it was probably growing pains. Well, I was doing dips the other morning and looked forward (there's a mirror in front of the dip machine) to see that there was a kind of ridge in my muscle on the front of my shoulder. It looked pretty weird, and I was having the usual pain, so I stopped. That same morning I got it x-rayed, and I'm now still waiting on a call from the doctor about it. It hurts particularly at the point where my collarbone meets the front of my shoulder, no pain on the outside or top of the muscle, but right below the collarbone. Any ideas on what it could be? I didn't think it was a rotator cuff-type injury.
