I dont take it but at one point i thot about it. The reason i dont is because it hasnt been realy tested. It may have side efects when you get older. It also can cause muscle craps if you dont drink alot of water. My freind started taking it and then quit and his muscles turned to goo. However if you do take it it suposidly inceases muscle endurance and energy so you can do more reps so you can tear your muscles better. Here are some links you may want to check out if you havnt already.

Dad's a doctor. Mum's a nurse. Both independantly said that it causes liver damage.

This is probably the oddest thread I've seen so far.  Meaning, creatine has been around for quite some time.  I only agree with 8pack statement as it applies to teenagers.  I tend to lean on the side that teens are growing and don't need anything that might interfer with growth or direct attention away from getting a good foundation in nutrition first.

FYI, creatine is a natural substance found in red meat.  So I guess red meat causes liver damage as well.  And it sounds like from a post above we might infer creatine is a steroid.

Come on guys.  Smile

jmh20 posted some good links.

And here's some more:

Creatine FAQ by Robert DiMaggio

Besides protein and multi-vitamins, I would say creatine has the most research behind it.  Scientific research which is lacking in the supplement industry.

LOL! I just noticed that we all read his post wrong, read it again guys
quote:

Does anyone take it? Is it effective?
He wasnt asking if its bad for you or not. His wants to know if it helps you out.

I personally wouldnt know the answer, but from what I hear, It helps out a lot but once you stop taking it you lose the gains you have got from creatine which forces you to keep taking it, which is called ADDICTION, maybe not the perfect definition of addiction but it relates in some ways.

Its kinda like marijuanna, cigarrettes, or steroids.

From some other people I hear they have never lost the gains they got, but for some reason I do not believe most of them, because I do not believe they have stopped taking it.

I can answer this one.  Personally I would say creatine is great if you use it right.  I take creatine and for me it has helped in muscle development and speed (ex. sprints).  If you completly get off of creatine you may lose some of your numbers but your muscles don't "Mush."  My gains have been great with creatine so i would say it helps.  Water is also a factor with it too because it is hard on your liver and i think your kidneys because creatine is a water retainer.  If you decide to get on creatine cycle it one month on 2 weeks off repete.  Even when not taking creatine you should drink a lot of water personally my goal is a gallon a day because musles are made of water.  For best gains use whey protein, glutamine, and creatine.  I just want everone to know that all bodies are not the same and some things i have said may be bs if someone knows the right answer.  But these are what works for me so i will continue to use creatine the way i do.

im responding to 8 pack - alot of people think that as soon as your off it you lose all the gains youve gotten from it, and its like an addiction. thats absolutly not tru!!. well i took it for about hmm 1 month to 2 ... sumwere around there... and when i was off it i continued to gain muscle an increase in weight.... and plus its not like steroids it doesn't give you incredible gains like out of no were.. it helps when your stuck...( atleast for me it did)

Creatine is one of the best products on the market.  It pulls large amounts of water into the muscle.  This does 2 things above all.  Helps the muscle to greater/faster recovery, hense faster growth.  And with the water comes a better pump, more blood flow and as a result bigger muscles.  I say faster growth and bigger muslces.  This is in no way even close to what steroids could do.  So don't think your going to explode.  What you guys want (to get bigger) is fast, thorough recovery.  Creatine will help with that.  IT IS NOT a liver killer.  If it was dangerous, believe me, they would have taken it off the market a long time ago.  Hell, they'll take anything off the market.  Look what they did with ANDRO.  Andro is laughable, creating more estrogen than testosterone.  Creatine is good.  Take it.  It's one of the few products that can produce what it claims.

sorry 8 pack but im for creatine also
i used it toward the end of january then to beginnin of march
i used it correctly and followed all directions and took some directions from the guys on here and form bb.com
well to make a long story short
i had gains all over my body minus calves and forarms which i did not train to regularly
i made a 1/2 to 3/4 of an inch gain on my arms(that makes them 17.5, boo yah)
im 18 and had no probs with it
no crampin, no liver damage(ive had blood tests for other reasons and all was good), and no gains have been lost
im takin a break from liftin to start anew
i havent lifted for about 1 and some change wks but will pick it back up tomorrow, monday
so dude if you want to try creatine get the smallest jug you can for about a months use and try it
if i doesnt work for you trash it
if i does use it but cycle and use it correctly
