creatine products....I have a question - Wednesday, June 24, 2009 2:31 PM ( #1 )
Between this two products which is best:

Body Fortress 100% pure creatine powder.
Body Fortress super advanced creatine high performance.

The first one says it does:
boosts muscle strength gains.
Accelerates power and recovery from excerise.

The second ones says this:

Speed recovery from training.
increase reps during lifting.
spike insulin to boost creatine uptake
more effective thean creatine alone.

The first one I took for 3 days, and **** it right out. So I would say it's not even staying in my system.

I'm eating 6 meals per day:

#1. eggs and bacon.
#2 protein shake
#3 chicken with rice and veggies.
#4 protein shake
#5 steak & chicken with veggies.
#6 protein shake

My goal is to lose my belly fat and add muscle. I have seen a good improvement in my chest/arms/shoulders already. Not in my belly. My weight has shifted maybe 2lbs.

I'm tired during lifting. What's my options to keep me going? I'm seeing results, but need to increase the weight & keep going to get more results....

Couple things.  First, you said you **** the first creatine right out.  How do you know?  Do you have a urea creatinine assay setup in your bathroom?  You have to give creatine at least a week to start noticing improvements in your workout, and a month to reach anything close to saturation.

Second, and I know I'll probably catch a lot of flak for this, I think you're relying too heavily on protein shakes.  each one's got to be, what?  24-30g of protein?  on top of the Eggs, chicken, steak, and chicken?  Dude.  You're going to blow your kidneys to the moon.  Since you didn't say what kind of protein shake that is, I can only assume the fatigue you feel in your workouts is due to the otherwise glaring lack of whole complex carbs in your diet.  Just rice?  Just once??  Something looks horribly imbalanced here to me.

To your original question, the only way that second creatine product can and should be making any claims about spiking insulin is if it contains a big dose of simple carbs or glucose.  And while insulin is one of the largest determinants of how much of any given nutrient gets into a muscle cell, I would stop short of deliberately spiking my insulin levels.  Do that often enough, and you'll become insulin resistant.

If you can get creatine monohydrate in a "nothing but" configuration, that is going to be your best bet.  Without the added cost of formulating a sports drink and flavorings to make it "high-tech", you should find that you always get the best per-serving value from plain old creatine monohydrate.  Plus, the unflavored simple powder frees you up to put it in anything you want -including your post-workout protein shake, which ought to stimulate your insulin enough without jacking up your glucose with simple sugars.

I just don't understand why all his posts is directed towards supplements when he needs to be asking for routine and diet.

KT,
The 2nd one you mention Super Advanced Creatine High Performance is what I've used for a year now.  It took me a few days to adjust to, with the first few days resulting in the sprint to the bathroom you mention!  ;)  I get mine at Walmart for a good price.  The guy at GNC told me to keep taking it, because the Walmart price is good and the dextrose is a quickly metabolized carb or something.  He did say to make sure you drink it w/in 10 minutes like the label says.  I guess it breaks down into something else after 10 min. that is hard on your liver or kidneys or something.  I used to sip it the first 1/2 of my workout, but no more.  Now I make sure to drink it w/in 10 min.  I take a scoop of the creatine/punch mix in about 12 oz of water.  I also take 2 scoops of EAS Premium Protein powder (Costco, $30 for 6 lb.) in another 12 oz. of water.  I do this creatine punch and protein shake routine both pre- and post-workout.  I basically have no muscle soreness unless I've tried something totally new.  Just get very tired afternoons of training, with a warm, tight, slightly tingly feeling in all the muscles I've worked the past several days whenever I nap or sleep.  Good stuff!  Best of luck!

either or will work.   Only really difference in the two is that the Super Adcanced Creatine High Performance has a cool name...and dextrose.   The dextrose just makes it absorb faster, if you mix the 100% pure creatine powder with grape juice then you have pretty much the exact same thing.  They are both creatin monohydrate.  I actually buy the Super advanced creatine because i get it cheap and it has the dextrose already in it, and my walmart no longer carries the regular powder.

i perfer GNC monohydrate, its the most simple straight forward creatine that will also save you money, and also before you start anything you should get the basics down, proper diet & nutrition, a good routine that works for you, proper techniqe and range of motion.  You get those down first and your good to go
You eat, you lift, you heal, YOU GAIN!!
