changing routines through the year

I've seen some longer term plans, like 52-weeks in length that split up between higher volume-hypertrophy specific(hst) routines, and strength lifting. Is it more beneficial to mix strength like beginning strength or texas method in between programs like HST. Can I do a few straight strength cycles and a couple with bulking, also, is Max-OT more of a strength program?

thats completely fine and its what most people do, because they feel like switching things up/changing routines is the main source of gaining, when its actually periodization at work. yeah doing a cycle of HST and then doing something like TM then going back to HST is fine. Your deloading (resting) between routines anyway.

Both. Eat in a surplus and progress with it and you'll gain both size and strength, you'll gain neither in calorie deficit. The lower reps are geared more towards strength though but as long as you're in a surplus you'll grow.
