can you have too much fiber? - Tuesday, February 24, 2009 7:58 AM ( #1 )
Im looking into making my own home made protein bars and I’m already putting a serving a serving of Fibersure into the batch for every bar that I’m going to make, which is about 5g fiber per bar at 10 bars per batch. I’ve also found a big tub of omega fatty acid mix that my mom’s not using at home, so I was thinking of tossing that into the batch as well with 10 serving for 10 bars, which is about 6g fiber per bar. Would 11g fiber a day plus my normal fiber intake per day be too much? Any side effects of too much?

Here’s a link to the recipe for the bars I’m looking to make:

would any of this be too much?

You should be shooting for a minimum of 30g of fiber a day, it won't hurt to go higher, but I would raise it gradually if you have been under that mark.

Eat Raw Broccoli for a couple of days. You will Feel the effects of to much fiber. If your body works as normal you won't need anything over 25-30g daily

I'm cutting right now and my total carbs are usually about 150g...maybe less. My averagefibre intake is like 18g it never used to be so low. Could this be contributing to the bloat I'm experiencing most days, mainly later in the day? I'm only on 2000 cals so I'm not over eating, I just don't get what's swelling me up!

I usually get the same way when I eat a lot of fiber especially at once...I hate the bloat feeling.

my carb intake is much lower then yours though im probably getting 75-100g's right now with nearly all of them coming before 3-4pm
