can i become athletic? - Wednesday, April 22, 2009 9:00 PM ( #1 )
ive been lifting 2 years now put on a bulky 30-40 lbs..

im 5'11-6feet
180-185lbs
bf% unknown... i have  love handles... a small belly.. im not fat tho
my body type my whole life is what people call the skinny fat guy .. i was always like 130lbs , skinny , but i clearly had body fat with my shirt off

anyway.. i was just in the gym i see 3 different people there , 2 are regulars i get to talking to one i notice we bench the same , hes clearly smaller and leaner , he looks like about 160lbs .. says no im 148lbs...   i might be 1-2 inches taller but i have 20-30 lbs on him and we bench the same . i see another guy that looks my height  i watch him workout , hes explosive , fast , clearly training to be a fighter i can tell by his atire. heard him say today hes 168lbs.. and thenhe brought his little athletic friend , this kid also looks about 160lbs... this kid says he hasnt worked out in so long he jumps and does 10 explosive pull ups , comes down for like 30 seconds , cranks out another 10.... ok ive been working out two years and i can barely do 4!!!
'
now here are my excuses. but in all honesty they are true!!ITS NOT LAZYNESS

two years ive been working out , i never have a pump in my lats , or shoulders! ( YOU KNOW HOW THE NEXT DAY WHEN U HAVE A GOOD WORKOUT U HAVE THAT SORENESS , BUT ITS GOOD....... IN 2 YEARS IVE MAYBE HAD IT TWICE IN MY SHOULDERS AND UNDER 10 TIMES IN THE LATS  )

I SAW A NATURALPATHIC KINESIOLOGIST LAST WEEK THAT PERFORMED SOME MUSCLE TEST.. THEY SAID MY SHOULDERS , LATS AND LOWER BACK MUSCLES DONT FIRE!!! AND THAT MAKES SENSE , WHICH IS WHY THESE MUSCLE WONT GROW ON ME , I HAVE BIG ARMS BUT THEY JUST LOOK FAT CUZ I HAVE NO SHOULDER! AND I HATE THAT.I DUNNO HOW TO GET THESE MUSCLES TO FIRE! I CAN  FOCUS ON FORM , LOWER WEIGHT AND STILL I CANT GET THE PUMP  , ITS LIKE THESE MUSCLES ARE DISCONNECTED!!

MY LOVE HANDLES , I REALLY NEED TO GET RID OF THEM I KNOW ITS ALL DIET , MY WHOLE LIFE IVE EATIN NOTHING BUT JUNK , FAST FOOD AND POP , IM CUTTING ALL THAT OUT... NO POP IS THE ,MAIN THING CUZ I LIVED OFF IT , AND NO OBVIOUSLY JUNK FOOD....

I DID MY FIRST DAY OF CARDIO YESTARDAY , I COULD BARELY RUN A HALF MILE AT 6.0 , I HAD TO DROP IT AFTER LIKE 3 MIN TO 4.0 MPH JUST TO FINISH , I DID A HALF MILE ON THE TREAD.. 10 MILES ON THE BIKE WHIHC TOOK 25 MIN , THEN DID MY LEG WORKOUT.   THEN ANOTHER HALF MILE ON THE TREADMILL.. I WAS EXHAUSTED.

THE FIRST YEAR I WORKED OUT I NEVER WORKED LEGS .,SHOULDER OR BACK.. I KNOW ITS DUMB BUT I DIDNT KNOW ANY BETTER.. BUT HAVE BEEN WORKING THEM FOR A YEAR AND JUST NOT IMPRESSED , I WANNA DO 10 PULL UPS ALL EXPLOSIVE LIKE.. DAMMIT!

THE PLAN!

IVE BEEN DOING 5 DAY SPLITS FOR TWO YEARS , NO CARDIO , AND AS U CAN SEE I HAVE NO CARDIO ,

I WANNA DO CARDIO WITH THE SPLIT FOR THE NEXT 2 WEEKS SO MY BODY CAN GET USE TO IT , THEN DO  3 DAY FULL BODY AND 2-3 DAYS OF HIIT CARDIO , SO I CAN CUT AND HAVE CARDIO.

NOT TO MENTION MY 3 DAY WILL  HIT EVERY MUSCLE , NON STOP!  ONE EXERCISE FOR EACH MUSCLE , NO REST , JUST JUMP FROM EXERCISE TO EXERCISE RUN THROUGH IT 3 TIMES UNTIL I CAN RUN THOUGH IT MORE AND MORE.

WILL THIS MAKE ME ATHELETIC?????  MY GOD I WANT STAMINA! I WANT A 6 PACK , ! I WANT TO BE BIG! BUT I WANT TO HAVE LOW BODY FAT! ADVICE!??

Too many goals all at once.  I'd say focus on getting bigger and stronger first.  Athleticism and stamina will come with proper training.  And once you are bigger and stronger, cut and then the whole 6 pack thing will be attainable.

i get u friend completely...
there was a time i coudnt amnage one push up and pull up was a distant dream,
now i can do 40 pusch ups and 7-10 pull ups....
see wat bill raymondhas to say...
do a 5x5 3 days a week
do cardio 3 non lifting days[preferably pick up a sport]
eat good[most important]

trust me in an year ull be doing more than 6 pullups...
loosing wt and gaining strength
ur stronger arms will have less weight to pull....
hence the pullups...
cheers and best of luck!!!

ur not pushing yourself hard enough... focus on your abs first.  Make more sets with more reps per set. Lift heavier dumb bells. Take your time while lifting dumb bellls, it's not a contest in speed. Workout for atleast 0.5-1hr a day.

My best advice to you.
