I've always heard that these are the best ways to train your calves too.

I think that is true b/c they generally respond better to high repetitions as opposed to high stresses.

Definatly, when ever ive skipped (skipping rope) my calves ache like hell in the morning, no matter how long ive being doing it for, they always ache! where as when i do calf raises within a few weeks the "day after" never affets them half as much as skipping does.

Or you can get fat for a few years and carry around all that weight and you'll get big calves in no time!

i do as well.  i do 6-10 sets for calves with moderate weight.  different types of exercises.  standing db calves, standing bb calves, sitting calve press, donkey calve raises... etc.

6-10 sets... 3 times a week.  i have tiny calves.. and they're "ok" now.. but still nothing special, but at least they're growing.
