bulking diet critique?
-

Hey guys, I've been attempting to bulk for the past month and a half and my gains have been little, I'm actually becoming skinnier(losing a little mid-section fat, but my arms are skinny) The main hinderance for me is my diet, I've tried to eat a lot of food, but it seems I overestimate what I eat. I think i've actually been in calorie deficit for the past month and a half. Also, since I'm a poor, unemployed, college graduate I didn't really have money for food. However, I'm moving back home and now have some funds to actually buy some food and stick to a schedule. This is what i've come up with so far. Any tips are appreciated! Btw, I'm 5'11, 160lbs. Skinny all over, with a little pudge around the midsection. ------------ Meal 1 9AM 5 Large Whole Hard Boiled Eggs 1 Cup dry Oatmeal .5 cups plain yogurt Meal 2 12AM 4oz Chicken Breast 1 cup brown rice 1 cup broccoli PreworkoutMeal 3PM 1 Can Tuna 1.5 Cup Brown Rice Workout @ 4PM Usually takes an hour Postworkout 5PM 1 Scoops ATW Whey 1 cup skim milk 35g dextrose/35g maltodextrin 5g Creatine Mono Dinner 8PM 4oz Chicken Breast 2 cups spinach 1 cup brown rice 1 tbsp olive oil Prebed 11PM 1 Cup Low Fat Cottage Cheese 1 Cup Skim Milk 2 tbsp natty pb ----- Totals Calories:3,079 Fat:83.7(22%) Carbs:384.7(45%) Protein:265.7(33%) I was also thinking of adding 2-3 liver tabs along with every meal since a friend gave me a free 500ct bottle, does that sound alright? Thanks for any help you can give!

just a personal preference. The milk in your shake slows down the absorption rate. If you can stand it just mix the WHEY with water. Gets to your muscles quicker. I also like to have WHEY first thing in the morning along with my oats/eggs. Reason being that you have just slept for 8 or so hours. Your body needs the protein ASAP.

Yes, I also prefer to drink my whey shake with just water after a workout and yes milk does contain casein protein(slow digesting, but it doesn't slow down the absorption of the whey). Second, hes eating cottage cheese and drinking some milk before bed(they both contain casein, so he doesn't necessarily need whey in the morning).. But then again, whey is good in the morning anyway. But since you're bulking... you need the extra calories, so milk is fine with your whey, but its ultimately up to you. Won't make or break anything lol.

you are correct, it won't make or break you. However, the casein alone isn't going to last you 10 hours. You body need to have the protein as quickly as possible IMO when you wake. What the OP is doing is pretty solid. Im just looking giving some advise that has served me well and small adjustments I would make to be spot on.

True, it won't. Just eat big, your diet looks pretty good in itself. Lift hard and sleep, you'll be good to go!

3k cals might not be enough if you're metabolism is high. If you stick to this diet for 1-2 weeks and don't see any increase I'd bump it closer to 4k.

MORE EVERYTHING LOL You're a hard gainer???? Is that you in your av? I am indeed a hardgainer and I got nowhere near the mass you have in your av....I gotta work and work to put on the least amount of weight. In 5 years (age 39) I've gone from 167 to 182 (currently) with an all-time high of 199.....(damn 200 pounds...I'll get ya one day). A lot of folks claim to be hard gainers when in reality they're not.
