bulking bar for snacks - Tuesday, July 17, 2007 12:44 PM ( #1 )
check out this recipe, very tasty....for bulking, not cutting

3 cups oatmeal
3/4 cups peanut butter
1 cup skim milk
2 egg whites
1 cup apple sauce
6 scoops whey (about 140 grams worth, mine makes 6)
1/2 teaspon salt
2 teaspoons baking powder
cinnamon and nutmeg to your liking

cook 35 minutes at 350, makes 8 bars with
29.5p, 32.5 c, 15.75 f...389 cal

for variations, like post-workout, ive added raisins and subtracted peanut butter, added some flax, more whites and whey, etc...can do lots of things with this one, good stuff, let me know what you think

sorry for the delay,
i'd say more oatmeal, flax seeds, dried fruits if you want high calories still...pb is a good chunk of the calories and fats since i was goin for a higher fat bar, but i really havent tried them w.o pb...i mean if you just cut pb, you could basically make oatmeal raisin protein bars i guess, similar to just plain oatmeal raisin cookies, just w/o the butter and such

The first time I made this it was so tasteless. I could eat it but I did not like it. The next time, I added 4 oz. of peanuts to the blend and some cinnamon and sugar. Made it taste a little better, but still plain.

Although the nutritional content is good.
