I think it depends on the person, you should try it. But for me, if I workout in the morning before eating anything, I kinda get nautious, and I dont have much energy, so my workouts arent as effective.

This post may be late but I hope it can help you. It really depends if your trying to lose fat or build mass. Obviously after being asleep for so long your body has used the food you ate before going to bed. Your body should burn fat instead of recently eaten calories(because there arent any). I have only ran on an empty stomach but never lifted, and it does work fast. If your trying to gain mass I would definately eat something before hand.

I agree with Ks32561, running on an empty stomach when you wake up turbo charges your metabolism! Because for the most you have depleted glycogen levels in the 12 hour storage from the liver and some from the muscles (you get rid of that with lifting). So while you run you are forced to burn stored fat as energy. Eating after is important because you need to replace vital nutrients you have used in the workout. Even hours later after your run you keep burning caloried and releasing endorphins, so naturaly it's a great way to make sure you have a good day.
