ahh the wonderful denaturing of protein! When you cook an egg you are denaturing the protein in it. Proteins are held together by weak bonds and when you cook them you are basicaly forcing the water out of the bonds and making the protein bond with other proteins forming more dense protein bonds. For example next time you decide to cook some eggs take them, mix them in a bowl together. Note the size of the egg mixture. When you cook the eggs you will notice that the size is slightly smaller than what you started with. This is because the water is being cooked out and the proteins in the egg (particularly the egg white) are forming bonds with other proteins instead of with the water. End of lesson. Basically dont worry about it, the ammount of protein that you might be destroying isnt worth worrying over.

Also remember that boiled eggs are a great protein addition to whatever you may be eating. Salads, tuna, crackers, snack, etc. if your looking for a little extra protein in your diet then keeping a few hard boiled eggs in your fridge is a great idea.

Well before you boil a egg theres extra room in the shell. After you boil the egg there is no room. So the egg actually becomes bigger

Never thought about that, wierd.... Maybe since the water doesnt have anywhere to go its absorbed? I have no clue honestly just thinking out loud. Ill try to remember to talk to my bio teacher tuesday and ask because I am curious about that now.

Ok, nothing too special, she said she wasnt positive but she would assume that when you cook an egg in a pan the water evaporates yada yada yada...when you boin an egg the water doesnt have anywhere to go so it stays in the egg which is why the egg fills out, when your boiling it the egg keeps the water inside and solidifies making just one dense...egg. I also asked her about protein intake and cooked eggs, she said that to the best of her knowledge that a cooked egg wouldnt have any less protein than a raw egg, the only obvious concern with eating raw eggs would be salmonella(sp?)

In other words next time you rocky fans who like to put raw eggs in your shakes make a shake, try putting a boiled egg in there instead....hey its worth a shot right?

salt and pepper and maybe a little garlic(its good for you)

LOL i'm not sure what you typed in, but next time google for "how to boil eggs"... anyway, this is what I do:

Buy 1 dozen eggs
Get a big pot, I'm sure you have one
Put all 12 eggs in the bottom, don't stack them
add water, covering about an inch above the eggs
bring water to a boil
let boil for 10-12 min and your done.

Take them off the stove, scoop out the eggs w/a spoon or something and place them in a bowl and put them in the fridge. I like cold hard boiled eggs, so i let them sit in the fridge for a while. Another trick is to put them directly into a bowl of cold water after boiling them.

The best thing about eggs is they are cheap and there are so many ways to eat them cooked. And if you get tired of cooking them, eat them raw!@
