Hi everyone. I am new to bodybuilding. I am currently 16 years old, 6foot tall and around 130-140(didn't check my weight since 5 week) i dont really understand and or how to measure all the other stats ( lean mass etc).I am pretty skinny and so decided to start to lift some weights Since the beginning of the summer ive been bored for about every days of the weeks. so i went to wal-mart and bough myself 2x dumbells 1x barbell and some weights and started lifting just like this... i didn't have any schedules and or programs, i just took the weights and started lifting when ever i felt like it. but i knew that if i didn't lift the correct way i wouldn't get much results if not none. So I started to check out forums and ive been sticked to this one , i think ive been reading about all the posts just to gather information. I got school, I work (for summer i'm supposed to work 5 days a week but ive managed to work 2days/week. instead of doing 7h/days im doing 14-16h/days) so i got more free time to try to body build but like i said earlier, i'm not working any routine on any regular basis, i dont know if that will get me anywhere. Now, reading the posts got me scared , the fact of overtraining and actually losing muscle mass got me to a point where i wanted to body build correctly and seriously. not as a simple activity but actually a way of life, i dont wanna become 60000pounds of pure muscle, or rip my shirt when i pump, i just wanna have a shape and not being skinny and have my bones appearing. so since i wanna begin taking that seriously i had couple questions i wanted to ask you guys. 1) any of you, would help me with what is being called a journal, diary, report ... i think it is what one will do different weeks of the days.thursdays and sundays i work from 11am to 2-3am... so i have absolutely no time to workout these days, so i could take chest exercises.(i'm the projectionist manager in the movies, so i'm alone the whole day. i can do push ups and have chest training thursdays and something else for sundays. like abs... i can do set ups/burpee's/crunches or such)but i have no idea how to plan or what i should note etc. 2)i have no idea about the diet, i didn't really listen in my biology class last year and i dont really know what are carbs. and which food contains protein. It would be Imperative for me to know which foods contains alot of protein because my mom dont want me to have any supplement of any sorts cause she thinks its chemical or some s*** so i think that takes away the protein shakes? well that does for the long text i wanna say thanks the the people who will take the time to read and help me out, also i'm french so if i didn't spell some words right or didn't structure the text right, i apologies now. have a nice day -oliver

Hey thanks for that reply ive found alot of good info there, i also found out those training ( S.A.I.S,5x5) that i'm going to try and see if i get any gains but i still have an alternative i need to ask... as far as the diet, i need to eat alot of stuff each days like chicken turkey .... my mom is not the kind of women who will try and discourage me in my goals she will actually try to support me and all but. i dont really think i can make her change the whole grocery and just make her buy what I need to actually grow some muscles... what should i do. should i follow a diet flat line perfectly? or could i go approximately?i'm that kind of kid who doesnt pay for chips candies and such. unlike much i would site infront the tv with a bowl of raisin,an apple and MUCH more fruits. if it would exist i would be a frugitarian...(does that exist or do i have to invent it?) (also another question) situation: i would sit on the couch the whole day long eating chips, chocolate, ice cream... for a week long. i still wouldn't gain 1 pound. is that what u guys call metabolism? ( this is a dramatisation but its very close) i hardly gain any fat is that an obstacle to bulking?
