whey is pretty much whey. I've tried 3 different kinds, they are all about the same. Only real difference is taste.

how is this possible?the differences in prices are huge.proteins like progain from maximuscle cost close to 30 GB pounds(even online) for the 2.64lbs tube.is this just a blunt marketing trick?

Well, when you look in the numbers some have more protein than others, some are slightly better quality, and some you are just paying more for the name. Like when you buy a Porsche SUV, its exactly the same as the VW SUV, except engine, and of course, your paying for the Porsche name, difference in price is like 60 grand. Hope this makes sense

Look at the fat amount. Some brand have huge amount of cholesterol. Try to found a brand with less than 2g of fat per dose. Avoid brand with aspartame. Avoid brand with higher protein dose than 25g, Your body wont accept more than 25g per dose. Watch how much raw gram you need to obtain 25g. Normaly for 25 g you should use about 30-35 gram of raw powder. Many time the difference in price is the fact that you need more powder to get a normal protein dose. YOu dont save money if you need 50gram of powder to get 25 gram of protein...

What? Are you posotive on that lion? Your body won't accept more then 25 grams of protein powder at once? So basically all those times I've been doing what people have been telling me to do, which is use 2 scoops (25g of protein each) is just throwing money out the window?

Yes, the higher the fat/cholesterol content, the higher the amount of Whey Concentrate as opposed to whey isolate. The difference? Well, concentrate is much cheaper to produce, so if the price is as high as the fat/cholesterol content, then you're getting ripped off. I've also heard that the isolate is supposed to be a better (more available to the body) source of protein, but I've heard no details (how much better, etc), and I've seen no studies that show it either (not that I've looked), so take that part with a grain of salt until our illuminati (Leah? dj? tj? tp?) chime in on the matter. And of course there the difference in fat content, but we already mentioned that, didn't we... quote:
Avoid brand with aspartame. Um... why? Besides, don't most proteins use Ace-K as a sweetener?

Actually, Isopure can be had for pretty comparable to other brands. If you can afford it, I'd ALWAYS go w/ Whey Protein Isolate, it's just simply the best quality protein you can get. I just bought 2 8.8lb's of Isopure 100% Whey protein Isolate for 58 Dollars each. Each bucket has 52 Servings... It also packs a supprising 50 grams of protein PER SERVING!!! Not common in the protein world. I also get 200 capsules of HMB for about 20 dollars.....great website to order from....though I haven't checked out Supplements 101....I'll definitely look at they're supplements when I'm done w/ waht I have now...

Optimum Nutrition Pure whey.. Been using it for about a year, and everyone I know on another board uses it and recommends it. Cheap and good stuff. Avoid the Strawberry though, the Chocolate is fine, tastes like a watered down yoohoo. it was about $55 for a 10lb bag, 154 servings @ 23grams of protein per serving. This is for a 5lb Tub. Serving Size 1 scoop (29.4g) Servings per container 77 Calories 110 Calories from fat:10 Total Fat: 1.5g Saturated fat. .5g Cholesterol: 10mg Total Carbohydrate: 3g Sugars: 1g Protein: 23g Calcium: 150mg Sodium: 40mg Potassium: 220mg Enzyme Blend:10mg Where is a charge they gave 23g of Protein per serving 29.4g serving size x 100 = 78% pure Unadulterated Protein.

This is Isopure 8lb tub Supplement Facts: Serving Size: 2 scoopfuls (65g) Servings Per Container: 21 Amount Per Serving Calories 210 Calories from Fat 0 Total Fat 0g Saturated Fat 0g Cholesterol 5mg 2% Sodium 320mg 15% Potassium 750mg 20% Total Carbs 3g 1% Dietary Fiber 2g 8% Sugars 0g Protein 50g yea, it is 50g perserving but it is 2 scoops to get 50 grams and only 21 servings per tub, With ON 2 scoops give you 46g and you would get 38.5 servings per tub, and each tub is about $25-28, also the cheapest I found an 8lb tub of Isopure was for $40 at http://www.lowcarboutfitters.com/isopure.html the only benefit I see is that it would save you about 6grams of carbs per serving if you double stack the ON whey like I do. so that would cut me about 18g total carbs for the day, and would cost me about $15 more to save that. i think I would stick with Optimum Nutritions.
