I think that the reason young americains, and 'canadians' seem to be stronger is that they do more sport in school, such as americian footy. in england at my secondary school we did sport once a week for one hour, and this was tennis or criket. we neva did gym. like in the americian films where you see them bench pressing etc we neva did that. i think a lack of physical activity in high school is the reason us brits are lacking in strength

If you want to increase your reps for 225 then you need to work up to it. So, this is what is going to give you endurance and everything else. You need to focus on your triceps and work them the same as u do your bench. So, here is a routine for your goal... Bench 1x5 (135), 4x10 (215) Incline 4x10 (130) Triceps 4x10 (65) Triceps 4x10 (65) Find two different exercises for your triceps. It took all of my senior year for me to be exercising with 225. This is what I was at by the end of my senior year. Bench 2x10 (205) 2x8 (225) Your pretty strong to be able to lift 225 so many times. Now I set your bench weight lower than 225 but that is because you have to work up to it. You cant just all of a sudden do 225 that is going to get you hurt. and if you have a year to do this then you will easily become strong enough to do it. I just got to say though I know of one person who could lift 225 and he did it in sets and reps of 5x10. This guy is amazingly strong though. But anyways try this workout. Find other things to go with it but if you want to get to your bench this is what you should do. As long as you got the time and the patience you will reach your goal.

yeah i definatly think theres a huge chance of me being world's strongest man in a couple of years. This is my target that creatine has added at least 10 pounds of muscle to me in 4 days and my squat has risen by 50 pounds in one week. Over the last couple of months my biceps have also swelled up to 8.75689 inches. im busting all the arm holes in my shirts. people even call me grass snake arms dunno why. im guessing they have a huge girth or somat and must be rather dangerous and deadly. anyway im buying some of that whey steroid powder sounds good. anything that will help me become the ultimate worlds strongest man. i am the NEXT BIG THING remmebr my name boys! p.s just gonna do some heavy lat raises usually i do 20kgs 78 times.

I can bench 225 around 0.5 times, as I can only bench 120 max.

yea, I have been mostly in football latley, and my team is currently 4-0. However I have still been able to weightlift, I'm roughly 6'1 1/2 now, at my last max testing I benched 405, Squat 540, Power Clean 320 and dead lift roughly 560's. As a reminder these weights are all calculated based off Notre Dame's weight lifting system of five repitions. I'm not sure what my future in football holds however I was All-Conference last year a sophomore at right guard, and my team went on to the WIAA State Finals last year and are expected to return again. Seeing the fact that I am not 6'4 which is generally the ideal height of a Divison 1 football player, I am looking towards strongman competitions. What are your thoughts on this??

ORIGINAL: twistedlink GAHHHH american years, how old is someone at freshman year? from what i know 13/14 when we was in year 10 (aged 14/15 ish) we had a 5 month ish weight training PE class, and the biggest guy (aged 15 coming to nearly 6'2 id estimate and definately had good genes, he wasnt called the toughest person in school out of 1200 students for nothing, even though he was a year younger than 300 of them students) couldn't bench over 125lbs, and believe me he was ****ing huge and seriously strong, considering most of us we're dying at quarter of that weight (none of us had weightlifted before so....yeah, we were incredibly weak lol) 300lbs bench at ages 14/15 does seem.......****ed....to say the least, then again i have seen weirder things My friend who comes to the gym with me weighs 220lbs and is 5'10 and is a lot of fat (his stats are bit lower than mine upper body, ****loads more lower body) and he can outrun someone on a bike going at a steady pace (someone kicked his car he got out and ran after them and kicked them off there bike LOL, ) He is seriously fast, yet he's built like a ****ing tank. weird things do happen, but hey, this is powerlifting we're talking about here Ive never seen cannon saying he benches this with perfect form, for all we know he could have a spotter with that old finger syndrome, which can allow you to lift craploads more than youd think, or using triceps and your arse in the air, which also makes good gains. Howd the contest go cannon? Or havent you done it yet? Its been a week so.... 15, 6'2 and couldnt' bench over 125? That's retarded. I could bench 205 pounds when i was 15, after about 7 months of weightlifting. Call me a fast-gainer. And i KNOW some people are going to gain faster than me... especially if they start weightlifting when they're like 12! Idk guys, i'm inclined to believe him, if he started lifting young, and there's nothing stopping that, it's not hard to believe. 6'0 280 lbs is built.
