bench comp and Max-OT... Help Please! - Sunday, February 10, 2008 1:50 PM ( #1 )
Hi all

I am training for my first bench competition (its April 19th, just less than 10 weeks away). I started Max-OT last week, and I was wondering if that would be a good way to approach this comp, or if there was anything you would recommend other than that. Thanks!

I'm not very fond of Max-OT.. but if that's what you're doing.. just eat.. eat lots for the next 10 weeks.. I would do a light day heavy day.. and hit the major lifts 2 X's weekly  if were preparing for a comp..

Be sure to invest in some BCAA's, why not get some extra support from supplements that will help speed up your recovery time .

Load up on BCAA, eat a lot more than you can handle, caseinate shakes at night, caffeine sups if needed preworkout, arginine at night, and of course your multivitamin.
Current Supplements: Multi, Whey, Caffeine, BCAA, Vitamin C, Calcium
Current Cycle: Strength

Like I mentioned in the previous post.. I'm not fond of Max-OT... I would just concentrate on primary lifts performing each 2 X's weekly..

Squat
Deads
Flat Bench.... on heavy days.. throw in a set or two of bench rails.. 20% over your max..
OH Press
Heavy BB Rows..

I would do a 5X5, maybe a 5X5, 5X4, 5X3, etc.. for heavy days.. and
do a standard 3 or 4X10 on light days......

and I agree with everyone else on the BCAA's.. . just make sure you eat quality food.. if you eat tons of quality low bad fat food, and work hard, your fat gains should be minimal...
