basic needs - Thursday, December 21, 2006 11:32 AM
hey guys I've been lurking around the forums for a little while now... I decided to finally post...

I'm 5'11 around 180... I have a pretty nice body (abs and a good chest I guess) however I feel that I pretty much reached a plateau; that's where I need help.

For about a year now I've been working out at random times...
(mostly according to how my body feels).
When I feel like I'm getting fat or whatever, I'll go downstairs do some bench presses until I feel better. Recently I've been trying to break out of this habit and start a real routine.

At home I usually do 3 sets 8 reps of about... 145 lbs + the bar (What I think is 15 lbs)

I also have 40lb dumbbells that I fool around with, usually doing presses and sometimes fly’s

Really I just want a basic routine to follow and some tips as to how to adjust to my personal needs

If you want, I could post pictures...

thanks a lot guys

Welcome to DBB!  By all means, throw down some pics, give us your current stats, where you started from, what you're hoping to accomplish -be specific.  You'll find tons of support, encouragement, and challenging advice

As you may have noticed, we have all kinds of goals and all kinds of enthusiasts here: hardcores, weekend warriors, backsliders and devotees, mad calorie-pounding carnivors, and crazy vegetarians.  Some of us are striving for the stage and the trophies, others are just trying to look at least as good as the 50 Cent poster hangin' on our doors, or look like an Abercrombie model.

Bottom line, if you're interested in making the most of your physique, getting in great shape, and finding motivation while sharing in the highs and lows of personal fitness, you couldn't pick a better posse to hang with.
Yes, that's me in my avatar, and NO, I don't look like that today. That was taken back in Jan '07, and I lost most of that progress when I slacked off last year. I'm on my way back, tho, and I'm using that photo for inspiration.
