Hi,
I’ve got 2 things.
1) a few months ago, before Christmas I was drunk and I lifted a shopping trolley (shopping cart as they call them in usa) with a girl in it up some stairs (I am a first year university student so the first couple of months I didn’t work out as I used to, just did a bit of drinking and getting to know the people). I remember I was doing a side bend on the trolley very intensely, the whole thing must have weighed at least 150kg, and I only did side bends with a 15kg dumbbell. The next day discovered a massive pain in my lower right hand back. I went to see a doctor and he told me that I tore a muscle, but my spine was perfectly fine. He said it looked like the erector spinae which was torn. He told me to take it easy and do some running as this will keep the blood flow high. So I spent the next 4 weeks running and nothing else, didn’t touch the weights at all apart from doing 2 or 3 squats without weight after running. It seemed to be getting better. Couple of days ago I did some very light squats, 40kg, dead lifts, 15kg and some lateral pull downs, again, light, only 50kg. Later that day I went and did some rowing and the pain comes back again (and it was really sudden so I think I torn the muscle again because of the rowing) and I think I am back at square one.
I was just wondering have any of you ever had back problems like this? How long did it actually take you to get back to 100%, because i took a 5 week break and it obviously didnt heal all the way, and what did you do to speed up the healing process. I know that this muscle can’t be fully torn because I have a full range of motion (it just hurts, especially when I am not warm, my doctor said its because the muscle is spasming). Its just that I REALLY want to get back to building some muscle, I used to be quite chubby a few years ago and I was just getting a nice manly figure when university and this thing happened.
2) Sometimes after running i get pain in my upper, inner gastrocnemius (calve muscle). This pain lasts for quite a while, 3 or 4 days. I think its just because I haven’t done any running for ages and it will go away after a few months ago once I get used to running. Any ideas?
thanks
PS
