ORIGINAL: Stan is there a recommended age for using ZMA? i'm 16 Hey Stan; I don't believe there's an age limit for taking ZMA but, what would you take ZMA for? IMPO I don’t think it will help you anabolically during workouts. (ZMA is normally taken by those who fail to get a good nights sleep.) When you sleep deep, that’s where the anabolic aspect may come into play, because when one sleeps well that’s when your muscles recover and repair themselves. Personally, I only require 5-7hrs.sleep but, when I do take ZMA it feels as though I’ve slept for 8-10 hrs.and awake fully rested. In addition, my dreams are wild and vivid in color. Something I don’t experience in normal sleep dreams and not only that, but in my ZMA dreams I see faces of people; whereas, in my normal dreams I do not. Weird. Supposedly it’s the B-6 in ZMA that’s attributed to having the wild dreams. Also, taking ZMA with diary products tends to decrease the absorption of ZINC. ZMA should be taken 30-60 minutes before bedtime; however, there are ZMA products that allow one to take it during daytime periods, Probably because Daytime ZMA has a lesser percentage of of the ingredients than Nightime ZMA. Peace
