While more information on your current diet, weight, BF% and goals would have allowed a more specific discussion...I will do my best. OK...well as Italianangel will tell, as she is one of those people with NO appetite, you can build up an appetite over time. However, to answer your question... Cardio in the morning can act as an appetite stimulant. Try it before you eat 1st thing in am, low intensity (walking, jogging, easy biking, etc). 20 minutes. A sublingual b-complex also has helped to stimulate appetite. No liquids 1 hour before or during meals. There are herbs which are appetite stimulants such as ginger root, ginsing, papaya, peppermint leaf, saw palmetto berry, fennel seed, and gotu kola. Now there is another set of factors that can help you here. Every person has a different chemical makeup in metabolism and digestion. That means the % of carbs, proteins and fats that leads to feeling full or sated is different for everyone. For most, Protein will lead to feelings of being full, as will fat, and for some, such as myself, carbohydrates. This is also a key to how the body prefers to get its nutrients, and so if you get full on a little protein, your body is likely effective at use of it and you probably don't need as much! Yes, people do waste much of the protein they eat! You may benefit from changing the ratios of protein carb and fat in your diet. Go to this post to figure your daily calories if you don't have a clue. Calories needed per day for various goals <------ link for you to click At the bottom of the post is a link to a spreadsheet/calculator that you can use... You are looking for: Protein-15-30%, carbohydrates-40-75%, fat-10-30% ...of your total calories. People fall into these ranges. If protein is making you very full, go for the lower range say 15-20% and higher cabs and mid range for fat. If you are worried about not having enough protein, don't. Alot of your protein is used for energy and if your body is telling you it prefers a different energy source, give it the preferred source instead of protein. For protein you can shoot for .6-.9 grams per pound research has shown you can be fairly certain you are getting enough even for a bodybuilder. If you area at say 2500 calories 15% Protein = 94 grams 60(-70)% carbs = 375 grams 25(-15)% Fat = 69 grams More fat means a smaller volume of food..though it is more filling to most people..though I am a high fat type chemistry..so it is different for me. What is most important is that you meet your goals for whatever training you are doing. If you eat 4 smaller meals and get 2-3 shakes, you are doing fine. But those shakes should be in the same say 15-60-25 as the rest of your diet...NOT pure protein! If the rest of your dies is shy on protein, you can be slightly higher to compensate. The only exception would be if you have pre/post workout protein. Over time, eating these meals will get easier. When the time comes to increase calories along with your muscle gains..you will be hungrier. Do get a multivitamin to help the body processes run more optimally. You can also do what Italianangel does and separate meals. you can search for other threads on this same topic and find where she has described how she does that to get all her food in. Some questions: Does meat sit like a rock in your stomach? When you eat a meal of fruit or salad, does it satisfy you for hours? Best wises on your eating!
