To many max bench subjects going around, I thought Id switch it up to max military shoulder press.

On a smith machine Mine is 205, Free Bar its Only 185 - 195lbs.

I rep 65lb DB's for 8 reps on shoulder press.

^ Pretty sad numbers ^

Dae, your strength knows no bounds, even aces impressive numbers are mere mortals compared to yours lol.

I feel damn stupid posting these figures but before i stopped a month and half back i could put up about...meh...100lbs, 110lbs max id say free weight. Smithy ive never tried, but id add another 10-20lbs i guess

DB shoulder press (i assume you meant this exercise) i worked out with 17's and 20's which are 40 and 45lbs dumbells, so i could probably max on 50-55lbs dumbells

At least both maxxes are the same when you add the two dumbells together lol

oh yeah man my dumbells never match any of my press's... I do far less on dumbells. Im not sure why... Maybe its because its not my 1 rep max's for dumbells because i cant just one rep max on them... I only count my 6 - 8 rep max's on dbs..

Does anyone else have problems getting the dumbells onto the shoulders? I mean i cant curl 65lb dbs all the way up to my shoulders so i have to like kick them up.. what really really gets me is those 95 - 100lb dbs for bench.. I always have someone hand them too me..

Dae I know your kicking those 120lb dbs up Smile Thats freaken crazy! I have seen a friend do it at the gym doesnt that scare you getting it to your shoulders before you press? Smile

I hit lower reps on the barbells.. But DB's scare me.. not to mention it takes soo much strength to move them around remember im not like a huge guy or anything Id say a little over average with little body fat.  lmao everything I do weighs so much more then me its funny.  Im only 190 now so holding those 95lb dbs and 100lb dbs in my hands weights more then I do! lol.

nah, it doesnt scare me, i love weight, im not scared to hit any weight wot so ever, i jst love it!

i have problems getting them up, but once they r there, its good.

i reckon i cud add another good 10, 15lbs on all of those numbers if really tryed out some maxes.

ive jst got a training partner, so we r hitting it up every morning together, and he says im freakish on shoulders, i love training them.

i lateral raise 80lb DB's for 8 reps, so yeh, my shoulders are strong!

uve got ace numbers though "ace", if i really hit some lower reps, and jst gained some confidence on the lifts,  ull be smacking up HUGE DB's.

^^^^^^ crazy b@sterd  (in a goodway lol dont hurt meSmile)

havent maxed out on militery press in a while because there not in the max ot programme, but 3 months ago i did 75 kg on shoulder press one rep max i think this is roughly 165 pounds.

on the smith probs about 180 with dumbells i can only do 135 pounds.

Thanks for including dumbell presses in this thread. You all make made me feel better about what I lift.

I am a girl and not comparable to you big strong boys, and I only work out with dumbells (at home no spotter), and while I knew there is a differance between the weight you can lift with DB and BB. It is very heartnening for me to see your numbers go down on the presses. (just constantly seeing maxes or working weights, on BB, was really making me think I sucked!)

I suddenly feel very good about my 30's for my dumbbell shoulder presses (standing) 3x8

I hit the 100lb DBs 4 times the other day.  I don't do the barbell Military Press though, I try to keep away from too may barbell exercises.  One of the best ways I've found to really make my military press stronger and more functional is to do them standing with dbs.  Hard to do them with the heavy ones, since my knees aren't there to pop them up, but it doesn't take alot of weight, and is really good for the core muscle stability and balance.
