Okay I have a question for all you supplement fanatics and hopefullly the doctor or 2 among you. I am currently supplementing with a twice a day multi vitamin/multi mineral and I've recently added ZMA to the mix after doing some research regarding its testosterone boosting and sleep enhancing properties. The problem though, is that I am now getting 80mg of zinc per day! (25/multi in the form of zinc oxide, and 30 in one serving of the ZMA in the form of monomethionine and aspartate). This raises some very serious concerns as 80mg is double (more in some cases) the tolerable upper limit I have been finding for zinc and I'm wondering if this will lead to any kind of toxicity or problems? Fortunately, the multi vitamin also contains calcium which inhibits the uptake of zinc so I am hoping I am not absorbing the full 50mg/day from the multi. A link to the multi vitamin can be found here: http://www.gnc.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2133771&cp=2167069.2108497.2108478&parentPage=family (click the Product Info tab) The ZMA: http://www.optimumnutrition.com/pinnacle/products/ZMA_90_caps-149-0.html If they are going to cause problems taken together, what solutions have others come up with? As you can see in the multi vitamin, I am still getting a whole host of other vitamins, minerals, and herbs which have great value to me and I would like to continue supplementing with. I am hoping I will not have to discontinue the use of either as a result of the zinc. Perhaps the answer lies in the fact that the multivitamin contains zinc in the form of zinc oxide, for which the tolerable upper limit is higher than monomethionine and aspartate? Wishful thinking. Help! Johnny G
