Hi guys,

Has anyone had experience with or know someone with really bad uneven chest workouts and they know what they have been doing wrong and have corrected it?

I currently get really bad uneven chest workouts for some unknown reason.

When I bench, my left pec does all the work and on the right side my right shoulder does all the work. I have read every forum and spoken to a few blokes at the gym but i still dont have an answer. I do light workouts/heavy workouts, I'm evenly dropping the barbell down and pushing back up, I have done dumbbells, dumbells/barbells with a little more weight on the right side and its the same issue.Im right handed, i have even arms, i dont have scoliosis. My left pec gets hit all around whilst my right pec gets hit on the outer section and mostly to the shoulder. My chest is way off, with my left pec fully developed and my right pec is under developed on the upper/middle and lower parts. I have tried everything and I still cant isolate it. Why is it going to my right shoulder?

Is there a method i can use to test for possible theories?

Any help is appreciated. Thanks guys.

Use a weight that your right pec can handle. The left one may be stronger but that doesnt mean it gets to determine the weight you use. After a while the weaker pec will catch up, the left one will still benefit from the workouts it just won't progress (which is good for the time being). The reason the pectoral feels more stressed towards the edges is that fibers towards the distal end of a muscle converge on the tendon. A lot of people feel more stress towards the edge of their pecs, its nothing to be alarmed about.

i have the same problem, which i dont just think changing hte weight will fix, i just cant seem to equally use each pec without favoring one side, and using mroe shoulder with the other.

then drop the weight to something you can control, at the end of each rep squeeze your lats, push from the bottom evenly and focus on form rather than weight or reps.

I have tried the above but it still hits more on the left pec. Lighter means less stress on my shoulder which is good but then I don't feel it in my pecs.
