YIKES!!! - Tuesday, September 02, 2008 9:19 AM
I've been away from the whole nutrition and workout scene for a while now and I feel like I've never set foot in a gym or knew what I should be eating.  It's like completely foreign to me now.
I was doing some research on calorie intake and I could not believe what my calculations came up to be.  Maybe somebody can give me some feedback on the accuracy of my totals.

Weight:           200lbs
Boby Fat:        21.7%
Body Lean:     156.7

My goal is to reach 19% body fat which is an idea body fat % for my age soon to be 41y/o.

200lbs x 1.2 grams =240 grams of protein x 4 calories = 960 calories of protein
200lbs x 4.0 grams =800 grams of carbs x 4 calories = 3200 calories of carbs
200lbs x 0.5 grams =100 grams of fat x 9 calories = 900 calories of fat

All this totals 5060 calories a day.

If my calculations are correct, I should be consuming 5060 calories daily.

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated

I'm not sure where you got those calculations but that sounds like WAY too many carbs. Especially for someone who is wanting to lose some BF%.

Numbers are way too high for your size and age.  Goto
www.fitday.com and use the calorie calculator.  It is fairly accurate.  19% bodyfat is not ideal for anyone either, but it is a step in the right direction.

generally you want 8-10 grams of carbs per kilogram of body weight, protein 1 gram per pound (or 1.5-2.0 grams per kilogram)
