Wyrms' Journal - Sunday, July 20, 2008 1:52 AM ( #1 )
I've decided that I want every bit of motivation to make me achieve my short-term goal of getting leaner.

I've spent a lot of money on some supplements and a lot more on the steak and veges I've brought.

Thanks to Bobbi, I thought that the Summer Comp was just the right convenient push that I needed to stay on track.

And now, inspired by SoulJa's idea, I've decided that logging my food and exercise ideas day by day will help me keep my enthusiasm for all the cardio and the clean eating.

My 6 meals of the day for the last week and for the next 8-12 will consist of:

Meal 1 - Protein shake + 30g oatmeal + banana + multi + green tea + fish oils
Meal 2 - Protein shake + 1 slice of wholemeal bread
Meal 3 - Steak + green veggies + some almonds + green tea
Meal 4 (or pre-workout) - Protein shake + fish oils + creatine
Meal 5 - Steak + green veggies + green tea
Meal 6 (before bed) - Half a glass of milk

My routine is as follows:

Monday
Deadlifts, 5x10,10,8,8,5
Flat Bench Press, 4x10,10,8,5
BB Rows, 4x10,10,8,5
Tricep Extensions, 3x10

Wednesday

Squats, 5x10,10,8,8,5
Pull-ups, 4x5-10
Decline Flyes, 4x8-10
Leg Curls, 3x8-10

Friday
Deadlifts, 5x10,10,8,8,5
Military Press, 4x10,10,8,8
Curls, 4x10,10,8,8
Shrugs, 3x10

-

I'm also going to try and squeeze cardio into at least 5 days of the week.
I'm gonna go swimming twice a week guaranteed with my cousin, and the other 3 days I'm gonna fill with jogs, skipping rope and miscellaneous.

Also found a nice quote:
"Don't ever forget that there's never going to be a reason to quit anything that you've started. There's never going to be a reason for it. No matter what happens, if you've thought something through and it's worth doing, it's worth finishing."

Speaking of which, gonna try and finish every other post of mine in this thread with a motivational quote. ;) lol

Wish me luck guys!

EDIT:

As for cheat meals, gonna try to keep it to a max of 1 per week, but ideally I don't wanna even have that much. I'll get back to you...

I'm not a big fan of cottage cheese. It'd be nice, but I'm just not a big fan of any cheese - unless it's melted quite firmly into a sandwich, but otherwise, meh.

Thanks. :) lol

Swimming? Are you going to be going in one of those community, chlorine filled pools?

BTW depending on what time you eat meal 5, you could just drop meal 6.

And good luck

Yep. Is there a problem? I enjoy doing some laps and then hitting the spa+sauna

I've thought about that with meal 5/6. Thanks for the input. =]

Well I'm sure you know of the effects of chlorine on your body when you drink water. When you swim in water your body pretty much soaks up the water through your skin. YuckY!

Good point. But to practice good hygiene we're required to take a shower right before and right after going in the pool. Showers provided by the facility.

Anyway, today's been good.

All meals have been according to plan, still have meal 6 to take down... Except meal 1, replaced the oatmeal with a healthy cereal because I had slept in and didn't have that much time before work. But that doesn't really matter, breakfast pretty much gets burned off instantly anyway.

Swam like a man.

I would've worked out today but my body hurts WAY too much from the other day, and yesterday I did a bit of a circuit, didn't think it'd have that great an impact on my chest and quads. So tomorrow...

Regarding cottage cheese, as I finished my shift today I looked at cottage cheese to find it on special. 500g for a $1.
So I got it.

The last time I ate cottage cheese was a few years ago, and I just tried a little bit before, I still dislike the taste but it isn't as bad as it was a few years ago.

It's hard to get down after a couple teaspoons.

I replaced meal 6's milk instead with 2 scrambled egg whites, half a yolk and some cottage cheese.

Tastes really nice actually. Gonna definitely make a habit of that.

In other news, today's training and diet went according to plan.
Other than a tiny 3-4 potato chips offered to me by a friend who was in the room after I did my training.

Let's see how I look in 8 weeks after keeping this up.

Today was ace.

All my meals went according to plan, except after a half hour of cardio, for dinner as I went to make my steak, I had found that family had already cooked some meat and a lot of veges for me. The only problem was that instead of the steak I had 3 chicken shish kebabs, but I don't see that holding me too much... lol

Now just shower, sleep and 5 arns of work tomolloo, which might as well be cardio.

Other than a lack of vegetables for a few of my meals due to work and a couple of pieces of chocolate from it being right there in front of me, today's been according to plan.

Today has been good. Even topped up on more veggies and stuff... hehe.

Deadlifted 255lbs for 7 reps on my 5th set, felt awesome.
Workout was pretty intense, it's gonna hurt tomorrow.

Tomorrow I'm having a very junky cheat meal for breakfast (Burger King equivalent) with friends but I'm not gonna feel too bad seeing as I've been strict as hell for the past week.

I was gonna delay my cheat meal till Sunday or Monday night but my friends really want it, so, yeah, thought why the hell not.

Saturday was a mess. I had my cheat meal scheduled for that day and I endulged, but then the rest of the day went bad in terms of my mood, and my diet followed.

Sunday was kinda just picking up the remains of Saturday and putting everything back together, so Sunday's been pretty good aside from 1 meal and a bit of chocolate... hehe.

Monday onwards is gonna be good though, until perhaps next weekend.

Today was generally pretty good, a vast improvement from the last 2 days.

Training was also good except I only did 2 sets of Leg Curls instead of 3, got too crampy.

In terms of training, the last few days have been alright.
Diet's been good too other than a bit of chocolate or a kiwi fruit lying around or something which I felt it was my duty to eat...

I have to stop all that spontaneous eating of things lying around. lol

Also have to up the cardio. Extremely.

I haven't eaten that much chocolate. lol

But I suppose Daniel's right, blunt but has a good point. No more cheats, even the tiny ones. Gonna up the cardio a bit more than I already have.

Up to this point I've been generally going by the 90% rule (If you're 90% good, then you'll see results). But I'm gonna try go all out hectic on cutting. To what extent I do not know but let's see how I go.

My main goal isn't so much as to win the comp but moreso to satisfy myself in terms of sufficient fat loss.

Thanks again for the support guys.

On the bright side, Nearly 2 weeks and I've already lost more than half an inch on my waist! :o

So I'm doing something right eh? XD

Sorry for not posting sooner but the last 2 days have been great. Been strict as hell, extremely active, and my meals have been spot-on.

Training's great too. Feel good in all aspects of my health.

Except for some reason I have a strong aching pain in my right eye, the good one. If it were my crap eye, I wouldn't care that much because it's screwed but my right one makes me worry.

(FYI: I have no vision out of my left eye. Never have, never will.)

RE: Wyrms' Journal - Monday, August 04, 2008 5:50 AM ( #23 )
Thanks for that.

Sorry to not keep this updated but the last few days have been great.

Except today I woke up feeling really crappy, thought it was because of my mood initially, but then halfway through work I felt very physically ill. And I feel like absolute shizzle right now, had some chicken soup, still trying to stick to my diet. Keeping fluid intake up.

Damn I hate colds, it's like my 3rd one in 2 months. I'm gonna skip work and go doctor tomorrow.
Check out a few things...
1. My cold
2. My eye ache, which has gotten worse...That concerns me greatly.
3. Depression, I could elaborate, but I won't, don't wanna sound like a b1tch. lol

Because of number 2 I pictured this whole scenario where vision stops in my right eye and then through laser eye surgery they fix my left eye, then all of a sudden I have vision only in my left eye instead of my right. That'd be crazy.

http://img402.imageshack.us/img402/5162/3007081452jg7.jpg

Do you see a difference? I see a difference in the mirror, but one might not believe me because of the different lighting and angle in the 2nd photo. Need to take a photo in front of the same mirror, gimme a few days for that... lol

As long as I see progress life is good.

On the other hand, I have a cold and my eye lid is swelled up and very very red. I'm borderline about to sue my workplace for poor environment for your skin and poor work ethics. I'm pissed and I can't lift or do cardio, I'm in no shape to do so.

This is really crappy.
For the last day I've had a nasty cold, I've been scoffing down protein shakes with the endless amounts of oranges and chicken soup I've been having, trying to take in a lot of fluids too.

All I can do is try relax.

The last 5 days or so I've just been trying to have an adequate amount of protein, vitamin C, and fluids above everything. Still got a sore throat. Hope I'll be alright to go all out with training tomorrow.

Even though the routine was doing me good, I'm thinking of switching to NROL fat loss routines.
The last week has held me back, it's turned from hardcore cutting to struggling to keep myself hydrated.

Still got 6 weeks, and I've done sufficiently well so far.

Oy, I've been going hard for a couple days again now.
Yesterday started up NROL Fat Loss routine (the first one).
I'm absolutely buggered but I reckon considering the intensity of the routine, it'll do me some good - especially since hypertrophy 1 last year gave me damn good results on a bulk.

Haven't been keeping up to date on this thing but all is well!
When I started for the comp I had a 34.7 inch waist, now I have a 33.2 inch waist. Very happy with the progress all over.

My legs are more cut up than anything else though. I'm pretty happy.

GOOD LORD, NROL FAT LOSS 1 IS KICKING MY ARSE!!

That means I'm gonna see much better results. haha

Just ordered a fat loss supp (USPLabs ReCreate) which I read good reviews on.
As well as Animal Pak. Should get that within the week.

Gotta love NROL.

Good lord... 2 days after a workout and I my hamstrings hurt even more.
Cardio's been up and good.

For the last 2 days I've been having a high protein cereal instead of oats+banana for breakfast due to work, but I don't think it matters seeing as it's the most active part of my day.

Other than that... I'm a good boy. lol
