What's everyone's thought's on belts. I have only used them on my last set of Squats or Deadlifts... that's about it. There seems to be two schools of thought on them though, some people say that you won't fully develop muscles if you wear them ll the time... then other people say that if you wear them most of the time through your workout it will help keep your midsection nice and small because you won't be using your obliques to stabilize, the belt will do it for you?

Like I said, I have only used them when I needed them... but I notice that in every bodybuilding video I have ever seen the guys have the belt on about 75% of their workouts. The whole oblique thing makes sense to me, because I could really see how the obliques could get large and in charge from doing Deadlifts all the time without a belt.

Just throwing the question out there... I'd like to shop around a little for different belts. I bought one of the velcro ones, a Sheik, but I want to look into the Valeo ones.

I don't buy the whole obliques thing as their primary reason, but yes, they do tend to grow the fastest of all the ab muscles, at least for me. I know someone who wears a belt for every exercise no matter if it's biceps or bicyling. He says it's easier that way.

I don't personally use weight belts at all, but then again I don't do typical squats, only front squats and leg press. With those, I use a knee wrap for my heaviest 9 sets (using Max-OT). No sense hurting yourself!
