Hey guys, I am currently following the Optimum Anabolics program by Jeff Anderson, I counted using his growth calculator today, always did and i was expecting a little bit of muscle loss due to my body fat results being higher while there's not much change in my total body weight. But I was pretty surprised to see that the calculator says that I'm actually gaining 2.1 lbs of muscle and around 2% of fat while losing 2.5 lbs of lean body weight. what's the problem here? is this a good thing or a bad thing? 2/7/2008 total body weight - 150lbs body fat - 9.9% 2/12/2008 total body weight 151lbs body fat - 12.15% I count my body fat using the tape measure method Note: I measure every morning after I took a crap in the toilet most of the time. Sometimes before I took a crap in the toilet. Actually my lean body weight goes back to an old lean body weight reading I had in a previous measurements before these (about late last month in january). But I thought as I grow muscle I was suppose to grow lean body weight too? instead of losing it.

Some people at bodybuilding.com said that I might have lost water weight. Could that be the reason why my lean body weight is lighter than the previous reading? One thing I know is that today before I took the reading I did not drink any water, and I took a crap for like 30 mins in the toilet before I took the reading. The night before I drank very little amount of water. Would that make sense why my lean body weight goes back to a previous reading? If I'm not mistaken, that 1st reading I listed, I didn't took a crap before measuring, so I might have measured the weight of the crap along with it and I might have drank some water before I took it, because I was in a rush to go for a vacation. I did not lose lean body weight dramatically, it just goes back to a previous reading that I had. I think there's some error with the reading due to the presence of water and the food that I ate the previous day. I find that everytime I took a crap I would weight 1lbs lighter. What do you guys think about this?

The skinfold measurements don't sound very consistent, keep measuring them until you feel that they are, because that bodyfat increase and loss in lean mass is too great to be realistic.

Yeah maybe i gotta properly measure from now on because I remember I measured them very quickly at one of those readings and was only looking at one measurement, the instructions told me to measure three times at least, didn't really follow that time cuz I was in a rush. I think I didn't have an increase in lean mass before this, it might just be the way I measure that was wrong.

Hey marc, thanks for the advise. I saw you inside jeff anderson's optimum anabolics competition pictures lol. Do you happen to know how to measure using the body fat caliper? cuz in the instructions it seems like jeff only wants us to measure fat only on one site. But how can you count total body fat by measuring only one area? its giving me different readings of body fat at different areas. Thats whats confusing me and left me using only the tape measurement method.

marc david is correct. your weight can flucutate very rappidly in a single day. if you crap or skip a meal or pee alot or if you sweat alot whatever. but your body is constantly expelling waste products try it a gain another day and see what happens.
