Whos the Chin Up Champ in DB? - Monday, April 19, 2004 6:11 PM ( #1 )
I have been working on chin ups for a very long time now and I think I still cant do that much. How many "REAL" Chin Ups can you all do?? My max is 32 right now and im still working on it. I'm not that happy with the result I got from working on it that much. but at least at the school gym I can do more than anyone. Its extremely easy till 25 then i get tired. I can do the first 25 really fast and easy.

So how many can you guys do?

Humm.. haven't done those in a while. Always done pull-ups because they were harder and didn't involve the biceps.

However, I'm gonna guess about 25. But now that you mention it.. maybe on back this week I'll see just how many I can do in a set.

prefer pull ups cause other people tend to struggle with them...
i could do maybe 15 - 20...
i know this much at school i schooled everybody in this little endurance test of holding the chin up position and keeping eyes at the bar level...
then again i ran long distance... so gave me an advantage..

Chin Ups <<<<<

Pull Ups--- The movement is the same as chin-ups, but you grab the bar with your palms facing away from you.

No it doesnt work shoulders, actually I have been asking that question for a long time, what muscle groups do chin ups work, from what the most links say(google search) chin ups work biceps and back. Im still not very sure because everyone says different things. Before I searched this, I used to think that it worked chests because i felt my chests flex and my chests got sour after workout and the next day, it doesnt make much sense. But Im pretty sure it works Back and Biceps now.

Last time I did as many as I could at once (2 months ago), it was 47. I should try again tonight to see by how much I've improved.

Well honestly I don't do them with just my body weight, I only weigh 170Lbs, so I add two 45 Lb plates and do about 50, towards the last 5 or so I can admit my form is off because by that time I'm swaying all over the place...lol.

lol, a lot of people are confused when they watch me lift, I've gotten use to it. I dont really do them often, I just did it to see how I would measure up with the rest of the DB. I always run into that problem of not weighing enough, that, and belts breaking because I put too much weight on them...lol, I put on four 45 plates when I do my dips, now those I do every arm day. It will def. scare the **** out of you when those weights drop...lol.
