Whole grain breads and fat loss
-
Tuesday, April 04, 2006 5:32 PM
Whole grain breads and fat loss, yes or no? I have several bread machine recipes that I can use in relation to my type II diabetes. With my lifting and fat loss goals, I want to be sure. I have gotten the impression there are several here against bread, but for whole grain. I’m confused. Where I am now 44 y o female 291.5 lbs 54% bf weights lifted: 60 lb wheelchair into and out of the back of my truck when we go anywhere. Where I want to be 9%bf whatever weight that is yeah....a long way to go.....but I’m starting.

for the initial weight loss, calorie restriction is more important than what you eat, atleast in your case... i'd suggest writing down everything you eat in a week, and then figuring ou how many calories your consuming on average per day... use a online calculator to find your BMR, multiply by 1.2 (it seems that your fairely sedentary) then cut your calories down by 500 ie if your BMR is 2000, 2000*1.2=2400-500=1900 calories per day. This will get you 1lb a week losses, the most advisable is 2lbs per week, but i'd suggest adding some cardio rather than cutting calories more drastically. If you need more info feel free to PM me.

You can do whole wheat bread and lose, but here is the deal... even though its whole grain it is still very much processed and is higher on the glycemic index.... whole wheat pastas are the same, although they are better than the normal stuff they are still not ideal... I can certianly tell when I have had a higher intake of whole grain breads in my weight loss..... It was tough giving up a majority of the bread that I ate but I did... I still have it 1 time a week but for the most part its better to eliminate it totally... I found that eating alot of oatmeal (rolled oats) throughout my day as the carb part of my meal helped curb my craivings for breads and pastas... You still need carbs, just find complex carbs....
Eat...Lift....Sleep......Repeat Enjoy the process.. but crave the goal.

i have 100% whole wheat bread, 2 slices a day, and like 1/4 100% whole wheat bagel a day. is this going to mess up my results? i would have something else but this is the only thing i can take to school. im already stuck bringing a protein shake so i can eat every 3 hours.
