Whole eggs okay for an ecto? - Thursday, July 02, 2009 7:07 AM ( #1 )
As an ectomorph, do I need to worry about whole egg white only thing?  Can I  just eat the yolk too?
Sat fat and cholesterol still an issue?  Thanks!

Apparently, the cholesterol in eggs is only bioavailable if it is heated to a certain degree.  This is an issue if you have an omlette, or scrambled varieties.  If you keep your yolk runny, the chances of cholesterol digestion is supposed to be much less that the fully cooked varieties.  If you have access to Omega-3 eggs, perhaps you could go with this variety.  It is all I use, but must state I am not one of those that fires down a dozen eggs in a day either, as I only use them a couple times a week.

Call me old school, but I just don't buy the egg lobby's propaganda.  I'm not ready to eat whole eggs -not when I'm going through two dozen a week.  That's a metric crapload of yolks.  I typically keep one out of four.

Besides, my coworkers do like to breathe occasionally, and I give them enough of a hard time with all the broccoli and peanut butter I put away

Veg,
Add some beans and cheese to the ****tail (burritos are beautiful) and they'll be callin' ya GZ (Ground Zero).  ;)  Beef adds a certain something too, but perhaps you'll never know unless you come over to the Dark Side!    ;)

yea i eat anywhere from 5-10 a day, usually 5 in the morning and 5 at night,  especially when we are low on meats, i think one day we didnt have anything in the fridge except for milk and eggs, the rest carb loaded foods, so i ate a lil over a dozen eggs that day

May be a subject for a new thread, but do bodybuilders in general get away w/so much cholesterol  (from all those whole eggs)?  Have any of you guys tested high for cholesterol (particularly the bad LDL) due to your bodybuilding diet?

Yeah, I'm with Jon and RS on this one. I eat eggs all the time, bulk or cut. We buy them in 5 dozen bulk each week and they get annihilated.

I eat a lot of eggs too.....maybe 5-10 a day...I don't buy into the whole cholesterol thing...I eat'em all whole...My theory is that dietary cholesterol has little to do with HCL and LCL levels in ones bloodstream.

But yeah...I eat a lot of eggs.

Cholesterol is not at all bad for you.  It is, in fact, very good.  Your body needs it to make hormones, to repair your cardiovascular system, and to regulate the permeability of all cells, among other things.

Thanks guys!  I'm stuffing whatever I can grab down the old hatch.  We took the boys camping this weekend:  I got up in the miidle of the night starving like never before.  No food in the tent to keep the bears away, so I walked across the campsite to the car.  I'm chuggin' milk out of the jug, and eating a banana.  Truly pathetic.  Like I'm a junkie in need of a fix.
