Whey Protein - Monday, June 16, 2008 6:34 PM
I've been reading and have always wondered about different wheys.
If anyone could explain the differences of wheys and the benefits of:

Whey Isolate
Whey Blend
Whey Concentrate
Whey- Opti Blend

I just want to know the differences and which is best.

Sheesh, no wonder people don't go to GNC.

Really the differences are from they way they are processed.

Whey Protein Isolate- Faster Digesting, lower fat/cholesterol than whey concentrate.

Whey Blend- Too vague, you need to be more specific, could mean several different things.

Whey Concentrate- Majority protein source in products like GNC 100% Whey and Optimum Nutrition Gold Standard. Moderate cholesterol amount (Companies are doing a better job regulating it now), a little slower digesting than WPI.

Whey Opti-Blend- Again, too vague, probably a protein complex IE...Soy, Whey, Egg and Casein Blend.

Would I pay the extra dollars for a straight Whey Isolate like Isopure or Wheybolic, probably not. Which is why Optimum Gold Standard is best for someone that is concerned about the extra buck.

I don't know everything about the items at gnc lol. Considering the fact of the vastness of their products from GNC products and 3rd party products. I just like learning whether its for my benefit or a customers.

And I've always wondered about Wheybolic because of our sales pitch about how much better it is. Just the cost is breaking the bank for me. And my manager hates when I buy ON Whey Isolate... says it kills her percentages haha because its under her employee number when im buying it and not mine.

I like isopure bc of the low sugars and carbs. Im worried about being diabetic, its not confirmed for me yet, but it runs extremely harsh and deep in both sides of my family so i try to watch my intake and blood sugar levels. I think it tastes pretty good, but its a bit pricey.

But i;ve found that gnc whey and on whey are the best tasting, and im a sucker for taste since i can't stand the taste of protein. It makes me gag, so i usually mix it w milk and fruit etc.

My fav is chocolate whey w peanut butter and a banana w some icecubes. Throw in my supplements sometimes like my MV and AA's etc. Its great tasting and I don't have to force it down.

Hey there!

Speaking of Optimum, their 100% Whey Gold Standard just made two of their really popular seasonal flavors PERMANENT on their roster!  The flavors are Mocha Cappucino and Caramel Toffee Fudge.  I love these flavors and now I don't have to worry they'll go out of stock :)
