Hi Tonia, welcome to DB Well, starting on the weights will help you gain some lean muscle tissue which in turn will help lose some fat and change your body composition.. It's a good idea to sort your diet out first before going heavy duty on the supplements. You might be able to benefit from the use of whey but get your diet sorted first. Hmm..as for the gym..well it depends on what kind of training you're going for really and whether or not they hold the gym equipment that you need.

Thank you for responding. I know this is going to be a life long endeavour. Choosing a gym is important. Do you think joining a gym like Bally's is ok or should I consider a gym like Gold's? As for diet, should I go vegeterian and should I eat 6 small meals as opposed to 3? As for the whey that you mentioned, is there a particular brand I should get and should I take it while I'm losing weight or after? Thank you again.

Going vegetarian isn't necessary, just eat lean meats. Popular choices include chicken breasts, tuna, and other fish. I can't help you with what gym to join, If possible I would go to a few in your area and choose one that is cheap, has plenty of equipment, and isn't overcrowded. The 6 small meals is a great idea, it boosts your metabolism and helps your body use your food as energy instead of storing excess food from meals as fat.

Hi welcome to DB !! What I would suggest 1st is to make have an achievable goal. Then you will have to find your way to your goal. Inorder to do that, our Admin here...Marc (Mda1125) had this link added for beginners. It's worth a good read -----> Read Me Just doing some exercises and having proper nutrition will give you some results. I still suggest you find a gym that suits you. Don't be shy asking how a machines works or how an exercises has to be executed. You might even have a trainer for your starting sessions. Also use this website as much as you can, it's full of infos regarding lots of interresting stuff. If you really want to know something specific, use the search option. Many times a question has already been answered. Hope this helped.
