Where can I get a BMI scale that's accurate, reliable, and cheap? I looked at Walmart.com, but after reading the reviews for their scales I decided to pass..

Why do you want to know your BMI? Buy calipers to measure your body fat and this will allow you to figure out your lean body mass (LBM). I think those two numbers are more useful then BMI. Someone may chime in with a way to calculate BMI using your % of body fat and LBM.

i dont believe there is such a thing as a "BMI scale". BMI is simply based upon your total mass in comparison to height and therefore is not accurate if the person has a large amount of muscle mass.

what puma said BMI is useless to a bodybuilder its just weight compared to height if you have alof of muscle and little fat it may say youre overweight and unhealthy Bodyfat percents are more useful

A caliper would not work. I have lost a tremendous amount of weight and I have TONS of loose skin on my lower stomach area. The caliper would pick up the skin as "fat" instead of as skin, making the results inaccurate. The only way for me to get rid of this skin is surgery, and I don't have the money for that. In highschool, we used to have these scales that you would step on and it would tell you your body fat %...

Others may chime in; however, I don't think your skin is "thick" enough to make the results of a skin caliper test inaccurate. Scales that test for BF% are typically much more inaccurate then skin calipers, but you can get one here: http://www.amazon.com/Omron-HBF-400-Body-Monitor-Scale/dp/B000FJQ48I/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=hpc&qid=1247433850&sr=1-1

dmdollinar08 A caliper would not work. In highschool, we used to have these scales that you would step on and it would tell you your body fat %... I don't know much about using calipers and extra skin, but those scales don't work at all. What I use is the Omron body fat measurer. It's not the most accurate thing, but it's reasonable. You might want to have a professional show you how to use calipers too.
