When's The Grid Going To Be Fixed? - Monday, August 18, 2003 6:59 PM ( #1 )
Boy oh boy....if it is not one thing it is another with my training this season. I finally get my self back on track after a stressful start to spring/summer. Give myself the necessary pep talks and discipline for diet. I weigh out the pros and cons for my present gym against a different one, and choose to stay put...fine, all fine. Well, just as I am getting into things building up to 'full steam ahead', doesn't the power grid go caphlooey!! As a result of this, most businesses are operating at half the power, and my gym, because it is owned by the city is closed to conserve hydro.....just doing it's civic duty...which don't get me wrong is HIGHLY commendable. HOWEVER, now I am stuck without a place to train, indefinately!

I am hoping that things will get fixed soon ( ya, as if the world revolves around me, lol). But seriously, this experience is definately an eye opener, and it really makes you think. I went and did some groceries today and the store was half lit up, and the a/c wasn't running either...the freezer sections were empty and the produce was picked over......I started to think of war times...an eerie thought....gas shortages, food shortages, water shortages, and power shortages....

~anyhoo....I'm hoping to get back into the gym tomorrow, if not I'll search around for a gym that I can just get a day pass for.

cpl missed his workout for 2 days because he must have some job related to the outage and was working his butt off.

I hear ya though..

I used to go to my high school and use the pull up bars, do push-ups and just do the body workout stuff. Granted, you aren't gonna get huge, but it's still a very good high intensity workout.

Just try doing exercises that don't require weights.. sissy squats, push ups, pull ups, crunches..

All very effective really for genreal fitness.

Thanks for advice mda...I was actually thinking about that...I have some d.b's here at home (10's, 15's and 20's). Was thinking of doing some high rep, full body stuff....the city announced today that all of it's employees will have to take the entire week off to conserve energy.....this means that my gym will be closed all week as well..hrmph! Oh well, what can you do about the the stuff you are powerless over?? Not too much. Just fear putting on some extra body fat...I'm sure a week won't kill me, but after having lost time from being sick, and now this...I am fearing turning all 'soft'.

And you know what else really hurts is seeing all sorts of chicks walking around with lean muscles...this really gives me the jones to get in the gym...how dare they have muscle and I'm fearing losing mine!! Lol .....Patience Patience...

Anyhoo, thanks again mda...and thanks for the e-mail you sent me as well...nice especially to hear encouragement from a guy, since most of the guys I work out with only ever have ONE thing on their minds...Lol

cpl does a lot of hiking and I believe was in the military. He seems to know a few weight-less routines and workouts you can do.

He was talking about doing squats with his hiking pack full.

Besides, 1 week off.. eat right.. no big deal. Truthfully, taking a week off is good for the joints and such if you are lifting heavy. I take a break about every 8 weeks. Gives the body a rest. I don't lose anything (except strength) I come back.. 60% intensity.. 2nd week back I'm blasting to new heights.

Take this time to read up, get your nutrition in order, research post, sleep, and when this ordeal is over, you'll be just fine in the gym.

Forum PIMP..LOL!
